| Chapter Three I didn't hit water, like I had expected. The ground I landed on was dry. Looking around, I saw dry walls and a wooden ceiling high above my head. It seemed like I was back in my world. Nervously, I reached up to touch the top of my head. I felt nothing but hair. My ears were gone! A quick look at my backside told me that I had lost my tail as well. My nails were back to normal, although I still had blood on one hand. Yes! Yes! Yes! I was back to normal. Filled with joy, I climbed out of the well. It was harder than before but I didn't really care. Also, I felt like someone had plugged my ears and nose up. My vision even seemed dimmer. How strange... As I jogged back home I realized why I felt so different. My senses had been much better while I was in the other world. Now that I was back to my old senses, I felt a little pathetic. Oh well. At least there was no Sesshoumaru there. I made it back to my house in record time. As I entered the living room, I hid my bloody hand in my pocket. "Mom! I'm back!" I called out. "Supper's almost ready, dear," she said, coming out of the kitchen. "Now why don't you go wash up?" "Sure thing, Mom," I stated, running to the bathroom. I quickly closed the door behind me and locked it. I did not want anyone barging in on me and see the blood. I made sure to wash my hands very well. Once all the blood was gone, I dried them off and went into the dining room. The table was already set, and the food was on the table. My brother was sitting down in his chair, rocking back and forth out of boredom. He never did sit still for long. I wondered how he made it through the school day. Once my mother and father joined us, we began eating. They asked me the normal questions, and I gave them my normal, evasive answers. When I had finished eating, I politely excused myself, put my dishes in the sink, and went upstairs to my room. Sitting down on my bed, I grabbed the phone and dialed my best friend's number. ~Hello?~ "Hey, Nadia," I said brightly. "How have you been?" ~Pretty good. And you?~ "Okay, but I got a few questions for you." ~Shoot.~ I fired off quite a few questions about the demons and the manga. Nadia answered all of them, as happy as can be. We spent over half an hour talking about the Sengoku Jidai, the time period that the manga took place in. "Okay, so what about kitsunes?" I asked her. ~They're fox demons. There's a kitsune in the series named Shippou. He can shape shift and call for help using acorns I believe.~ "Can all kitsunes do that?" I wondered. ~I think so, but I'm not sure.~ "What would you do if you ever got transported to the Sengoku Jidai?" I had to ask that. I needed some kind of advice, even if it was unknowingly given. ~Well, first I would go find Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku, Sango, and Shippou. They probably be in Kaede's village. I'd have to avoid all youkai, especially Fluffy and Naraku.~ "Naraku?" ~Evil hanyou. He wants to get all of the shikon shards so he can become a full demon. He's worse than Fluffy.~ "Eeek," I commented, grimacing. I would definitely want to keep away from Naraku. ~I think that I would have to keep away from Kikyou too. A walking dead miko is not very pleasant.~ "I'll take your word for it," I said. ~Why are you asking me all this? I didn't think that you were all that interested.~ "Let's just say that recent events have made me curious," I told her. "Don't ask, okay?" ~Sure thing. I think that I would also try to find Kouga. He's a little daft at times, but he is a good guy. He does call Kagome his woman and Inuyasha a dogturd.~ "Anything else?" ~Well, I would have to take some food and a weapon with me.~ Okay, I could take food with me if I ever decided to go back. As for the weapon... I really didn't need one. Who needed knives and such when one had claws? "Thanks a bunch," I told her, sincerely grateful. I had decided what I wanted to do. The next day was Saturday, and I was going back to the well. My curiosity had really gotten the better of me. ~Is that it? You've no more questions for me?~ "Yeah, that's pretty much it. I do promise to call you if I need any more questions answered," I said. ~Great! Well, I gotta go. I'll talk to you later, okay?~ "Okay," I agreed. "Bye." I hung up the phone, very happy that I finally knew enough about the Sengoku Jidai to keep out of trouble. Of course, staying out of trouble was harder than it looked. |
