Shippo saves a girl called Satsuki from some boys who were harassing her. Satsuki shows Shippo her jewel shard and says that it will bring her brother home from the war. Kagome sees it and can tell its not a real jewel shard.Satsuki's brother appears to have returned when he reveales himself as a lizard demon, who Shippo fights.

Inuyasha and Kagome discover a human eating tree and try to destroy it, but the sage stops them and Inuyasha turns human because its the night of the new moon. The sage traps Inuyasha inside a bottle, where eventually he is to become food for the tree!
