General Chuikov statue from a different angle. You can't see it in this shot, but inscribed at the base of the statue are the Russian words "Ni shagu nazad" which means "not one step backward". This was taken literally from a law handed down from Stalin to the entire Russian army - to retreat in battle was treason and the punishment for doing so was death.
