Vika has just presented flowers to this veteran and his wife. It is customary each Victory Day to hand each veteran a flower, and congratulate and thank them for the sacrifice they and their fellow soldiers made during the war. They may be dressed simply, or perhaps they put on their old uniform for this day, but they never forget to wear their medals. They are very proud of their accomplishment, and if you're lucky, some of them will even tell you a war story or two. The saddest thing of all, though, is that the number of them healthy enough to make an appearance dwindles noticeably each year. I hope long after the last one of them is gone that nobody ever forgets what they did and why they had to do it.
