Why R/C Helicopter?

The R/C or remote control hobby consists of many crafts. The more popular ones are aeroplanes and cars. Helicopter is only catching up in recent years partly due to the advances in manufacturing and electronic technology.

I guess r/c helicopter is one of the more expensive form of r/c hobby. This is because the manufacturing of the helicopter frame is a difficult process and the mechanics involved are more complicated. The electronic components used have to be of higher quality in order to withstand the high stress environment they have to operate in. Fortunately, technology advances have push down the prices and most people are able to pick up this hobby.

The addiction of r/c helicopter comes from the excitement of flying the machine itself. The control mechanism is more challenging and the flight envelop of the helicopter is quite extensive. Basically you can do more types of aerobatics than a r/c aircraft. The best days are when you learn a new trick.

Besides the machines, the people involved in this hobby contributes to part of the attraction. Most r/c helicopter pilots are helpful and kind. We discuss about new tricks, show each other how to do it and teach beginners about this hobby. I have made many great flying buddies over the time and chatting with each other helps to release the stress.

Overall, r/c helicopter flying is exciting and it will bring you a sense of achievement that no words can describe.
