Community Services

Operation Big Book Bag

Chapter collects school supplies such as backpacks, pencils, notebooks, etc., and donates these items to children and schools who are most in need.

Soles for Little Souls

New shoes are collected and donated to orphanages for young children.

Food for the Homeless

Each chapter member makes a dish.  We then wrap the meal and bottled water in a to-go box and drive around the neighborhood, handing out food to the homeless.

Christmas at the Convelescent Home

Sorors went to a neighborhood covelescent home during Christmas vacation to read stories and pass put ornaments to the residents.

Halloween in the 'Hood

Sorors run booths and judge the Halloween costume contestfor the Halloween carnival at an inner-city park.  Last year, sorors worked alongside players from the Los Angeles Lakers during this community service.

Programs

Mr. Black UCLA

The chapter sponsers a pagent staring men from UCLA.  The students compete for a $500 scholarship, and are judged on their stage presence, talent, academic excellence, and crowd participation.

Preferred Classes Seminar

Sorors dispell myths regarding "popular" classes and recommend classes and professors to help students improve performance.  An academic and/or peer counselor speaks tips strengthen academic success.

Women's Awareness Forum

In conjunction with the Women's Resources Center, sorors invited the UCLA community to hear about how to decrease chances of becoming a victim and appropriate methods of responding when sexually assaulted.

Cookies and Condoms

Sorors giveaway condoms during bake sales to help promote safer sex.
