It's been awhile since a bands come along that seems to really enjoy playing. When was the last time you saw a band having as much fun playing as the people watching them play? Just such a band is the Shadetree Mechanics. Named after an old ZZ Hill tune, these guys smoke!! Powered by the guitar of Mark Redman, blues harp attack of Palooch, Pat G. on keys and dynamic rythm section of Elmo John on bass, Ray G. on drums and the vocal gymnasitcs of Mke the Reverend, this blues/rock band puts the fun back in live entertainment. Playing a mix of standard and contemporary blues covers as well as some interesting original songs (i.e., The More I Drink, The Better You Look and Wash My Blues...). The Shadetree Mechanics have been stirring up the music scene and making a name for themselves in the New York metropolitan area playing such venues as B.B. King's Blues Club, Manny's Car Wash, Tribeca Blues, The Victory Cafe, Chicago Blues, the South Street Seaport, Q104.3 Coors Light Paddlewheel Cruise (NYC) , Blues 2000, 2001, 2002 Blues Alley (Danbury, CT), Jason's Jazz Club (Belmar, NJ), and the Stanhope House (Stanhope, NJ) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

When these guys lock into a bluesy groove they make you wanna "call yo' mamma" and when they rock, you can imagine yourself openin' up your Harley on a long stretch of open road headin' for the hills. Guitarist Mark and blues harp player John both hailing from New York City as well as the tenor sax of Willie Smith will astound you with their never miss a lick pyrotehcnics. Bassist Elm (from Rockland County) and drummer Ray G (from New Jersey) will have you dancing all night long. Rounding out this incandescent quintet is The Rev, originally from Chicago, and now residing in New Jersey. The dynamic lead vocalist makes you feel like you're haning out with an old friend. Singing "Happy Birthday" to members of the audience, dancing and mingling with the crowd while singing with more energy than a nuclear reactor are what makes this a "must see" band. If you miss the good ol' days when live entertainment meant more than lip-synch and you want to see a band that does more than just go through the motions, then do yourself a favor...get yourself a tune-up by the Shadetree Mechanics. |
