CONSENT =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Shadowed Isles is a Judge-Based MUX. This means that when players create characters and are approved for RP, they "auto-consent" to the possible harm or death of that PC. Retcons will be few and far between, and never without a VERY good explanation. Whereas we want ALL our players to feel comfortable on the game, and to enjoy thier RP, situations can arise which cause dismay, discomfort and distress. If a player feels a particular scene is not something they wish to RP, they may ask that it "fade to black" (FTB), unless it is a scene requiring rolls, such as in combat situations. Other, more traumatic scenes which require rolls may be done as an FTB, as long as a Judge is present to witness the rolls and determine the outcome of the scene, without any actual role-play. If dice need to be rolled in order to determine the outcome, please call a Judge. If there are complaints about the scene, or about the way in which it was handled, the player(s) may file a complaint with the Complaint staff, however, expect little sympathy if there isn't a VERY good explanation why it shouldn't fade to black. If at any point the RP becomes too intense or uncomfortable for ANY player, they have the right to call for a Staffer. ANY player may call for Staff at ANY time, regardless of another player's wishes. NO player should feel intimidated by another player who do NOT agree Staff should be called. To ask for a Staff member to observe or arbitrate in a scene is the right of ALL players on this game. Just because a PC wants to do something, does NOT mean the player can ignore that PC's stats, and/or the stats of another player's PC! Any time a PC tries something that can affect another PC (i.e., inflicting harm, using supernatural powers, ruining a reputation, messing with Backgrounds or other Traits, etc.), the player should do at least ONE of the following: 1. Page the other player. Talk it over and figure out what's workable, and what their character can do to prevent and/or detect it. 2. Contact the appropriate Sphere Wizard, the other player's Sphere Wizard, or an online Judge via page or @mail. The appropriate staffer(s) will then check for the other player's "Danger Sense," allow for opposing rolls, etc. 3. Offer a +Warn to the other player, letting them know of your intent to do harm, and/or that their IC actions may result in serious injury or death to that PC. Situations arise in the World of Darkness which have horrific or sexual over-tones. In such cases, ALWAYS page the other player OOCly, first, and RESPECT their wishes! Not all players are comfortable with that kind of RP, and they should be given the opportunity to ask that the scene "fade to black" (FTB), or another compromise. Have them COMMUNICATE OOCly a SPECIFIC CHOICE as to whether or not they wish to continue the RP, or -- -- consider it a +warn, and decide to avoid it. In this case, they have the options of leaving the scene ICly, OOCly deciding that it did not happen ICly, or FTB. -- simply Fade To Black. In scenes involving rape, violence, torture or the like, the "victim" can request an OOC summary of the events, and/or pretend the character blocked out this horrifying experience. In scenes with sexual content scene, the "partner" has the right to ask for an FTB, and request an OOC summary of what happened, and RP can continue after the fact.
