Dive Trip Report
Dive site:
Wolf island (day 2)
Dive 11:
Water temperature: 25°C
Bottom time: 55 minutes Max. depth 89 ft.
Drift dive. Viz. 40 ft.
We came back to the same place when we first saw the large hammerhead schools, and here they were, not as much as the first time, or maybe, by this time of the trip, our standars to rate a good dive were so much higher than the first one.. anyway, viz was not very good, but when we started moving out the sharks where very close to us, so we could see them with a lot of detail, the way they move,  the texture of their skin, the cleaning process made out by the tiny fishes, the purple lines of the remora fish in some sharks....  they were also at all levels, above us, and at the bottom.  Near surface we also saw 2 or 3 dolphins, viz was better at the end of the dive,  so we could see hammerhead silouethes, with a really nice light below us during all the safety stop.
Dive 12:
Water temperature: 25°C
Bottom time: 53 minutes Max. depth 86 ft.
Drift dive. Viz. 40 - 50 ft.
"Galapagos shark bay". Current was strong, ¡ muy bien...!  we noted it from the pangas, first  we saw a school of maybe 10 hammerheads,  then 3 spotted eagle rays and a big sting ray (about 70 cms) after that, a school of galapagos sharks started coming, around us, in front of us, above us, they where pretty close to all us, and at the same time, they were passing very fast,  they knew we were there and didn't change direction,  this was a really nice dive, i didn't know where to see, because all views were excellent. and sharks where no shy at all.... and no small at all, i think 1.5 to 2.5 meters long. We also  saw a huge turtle, and as always lots of fish, golrimmed surgeon fish, moorish idol, black jack (jurel negro), wahoo, panamic graysby, leather bass (cagaleche), and many others...  surge was also strong at the safety stop, but we were all very happy.  Something important  at this time of the trip was the fact that this was the only dive site, where two diving boats where anchored. but we did dove at different times, so all the living creatures we saw there where mainly living at the ocean...
Dive 13:
Water temperature: 25°C
Bottom time: 48 minutes Max. depth 85 ft.
Drift dive. Viz. 40 - 60 ft.
For me and, i think all the others will agree, this was the very best dive of the trip.  Current was strong, a little bit stronger than the previous dive, we went to the same location, looking for more galapagos sharks encounters, and the show started with an eagle ray's parade, for about 4 minutes, the 3 eagle rays swam very slow, in front of us,  and pretty close, we could almost be able to count their dots, after this, some 10 -12 galapagos sharks were coming one by one, and then,  a really large school of hammerheads (70 - 80) stayed above us, suspended in the current, for near 15 minutes, every one of that minute is clearly stored in my mind as the best dive ever.  we were grabed to the rocks and after the sharks leave, we separated ourselves from the bottom and started going to the blue.... the sensation was amazing, i mean, the current took us very fast as if we were flying above the rocks, and we encounter face to face with turtles, galapagos sharks, stingrays, barracudas, was  like crossing a highway and almost be knocked down by the sharks, only in 4th dimension if this is possible.....  my  computer started crying asking  me to stay for some more time there... so i had to do a short deco-stop at 20 ft,  was not very easy because of sea conditions,  but the smile of that 48 minutes is still in my face.....
Next dive (Marshall cape)
