SS 0 - BOTN FC 4 25th Sept 2006 |
This week we played Back of the Net FC in a match that was destined for a comfortable victory to the opposition. Our preparations were hindered with James S already not played (with his gf), then Paul McFadden (ankle injury) & Andy (with his gf) both pulling out on the morning on the match. Matt E came in to make up the 6.
To cut a long story short we were out played, cut apart and they had lots of shots on goal, scoring 4 of them. We showed some bright sparks but created very few genuine chances. Overall a fair result on the reflection of the game. I can have no complaints about the result, we were just not good enough. |
SS 0 - The Badgers 4 2nd Oct 2006 |
This week we played The Badgers after our disheartening result last week and morale looked low. Andy again didn’t play, as has hurt his ankle and looks very painful.
Although we were against much better opponents than us, we started by working hard and conceded our trademark early goal. For most of the rest of the half we were solid, although did not create much upfront. We conceded another goal just before half time after Paul miss controlled it, to give a hammer blow to our chances of winning the match. The 2nd half started badly with 2 really early goals after Tom and I were caught with 2 3 on 2 attacks, but they finished clinically. We needed to try and get a goal so were forced to push up the pitch, which is why the 2 on 3’s occurred. The rest of the half was damage limitation and long balls into the corner. Overall another occasion which we were out classed by the opposition. Next week we play the White Lions, the only team we have beaten in 10 games. On a positive note we are save from relegation. |

SS 5 - White Lions 0 9th October 2006 |
This week we played the White Lions, the only team we have previously beaten at Eastwood. Tonight’s squad was Me, Spanton (gk), Andy, Paul, Fung, Tom & Stevie G.
This match started well with us on the attack from the first whistle, Tom managed to get one early and put us in front. This was quickly followed by a long range strike from Paul M, whilst Steve Gee followed up quickly with a magnificent strike after a lay off from me. After our initial rally, they then started to press, but didn’t put too much pressure on us. We ended the 1st half as we started with, after Andy’s strike. The 2nd half was much the same with Spanton/Andy/Tom having very little to do and us having all the possession. This half we scored another from Steve Gee, a composed finish. I had 5 or so decent opportunities, but I couldn’t capitalise on any of them, with there keeper in top form. Will I ever score?!. Overall the best performance since we have been down at Eastwood. Guess who we are playing next week……………….. |

This season I predicted a 4th place finish, due to our shoddy record leading up to the season and maybe a 3rd depending on a couple of good results. These good results came against White Lions twice and a draw against BOTN FC. We also got hammered 3 times and at one point made our morale very low, so hopefully we can build on this. We didn’t even use our secret weapon this season, James Cole. |
