SS 1 - Chequers 6 6th July 2004
This was a match that we didn't play to the standard we know we can. Although we didn't play as badly in previous weeks, we still didn't perform. Subsequently we lost to a team who have NEVER won a match in 2 seasons, hopefully this will spur the team to perform in future weeks. Today Alex was in London, so Steve B made his SS debut, he played reasonably well and did everything asked of him. To cut a long story short, we conceded 6 and Paul scored a scrappy goal after an assist by Steve. There is a bright side, although we lost to the team at the bottom of the league, we didn't play as badly as in previous weeks. You never know, we may finish the season as we started, ............ with a victory.

SS 4 - Chequers 3 31st August 2004
This was a crucial match, in which we could have finished in the top 2. We started the match knowing that we could get promoted, but results had to go our way. Anyway, they opened the scoring with an amazing free kick into the top right hand corner, which probably should have been defended better. We then went on to score 3 more and at half time went in with a lead, the goals from Tom (Who was player of the week), Paul, Andy & Alex. In the 2nd half it was tougher, with more shots coming from the Chequers. Another goal from Andy though made it more comfortable. We played very defensive and the opposition didn’t have much in the way of creativity. We finally put behind our dismal performance from the last time we met. This was an OK performance, which ultimately meant we had every chance of finishing in the top 2. Other results went against us, but finishing with 15 points out of 21 is still a good achievement. Can anyone tell me how we did not get promoted with 15 points, anyway next season who knows.

Sharp Shooters v The Chequers
This is the third time I have written this as I have had a few problems with my internet connection, apologies for the late report. Overall the match started well with us going 1 - 0 up after a goal from Alex, we then conceeded a sloppy goal going in at half time at 1 - 1. The 2nd half started brightly and after some nifty footwoork from me and a good finish from Tom we again took the lead. Towards the end of the game we again conceeded a sloppy goal. Tonight Ruben made his debut for the Sharp Shooters in goal, with Dave in the Costa del Sol. This was a tight game, which both teams played below standard. I feel a 2 - 2 draw was a fair reflection on the game.

SS 16 - The Chequers 1 2nd Nov 2004
This was a match that we completely dominated and should have scored more. Tonight with the absence of James C, Dave & Alex we had Steve, Ricki and the long awaited debut of Spanton playing. This entire match was complete dominance and from the whistle we were all over them. From my memory although we conceded 1 goal, they had 2 shots on target and the rest of them from in there own half and wide. We played with good passing movement and recorded our biggest win to date. I think these are the goals everyone scored, Paul (5), Andy (4), Me (Daniel 3), Steve (2) & Tom (2). The only downside to this performance was that we should have scored more. Overall although we played well, the opposition were not up to standard and I feel sorry for their keeper as he made some very good saves. This is the sort of performance that breathes confidence into our promotion push.
