This was a match that we should have won, not because of our performance, but a shoddy piece of refereeing.
We started the match well, by going 1 - 0 up, after a wonderful goal from myself. All through the match we were going in the lead, being pulled back, then coming from behind We eventually finished the match 6 -6 . We had some good performances tonight, with Paul managing to score a hat-trick and the other 2 goals coming from Tom and Alex. We only had 6 players tonight, as Andy was apparently ill, he had man flu.
Rather than my usual bias about our performance, the referee did make a shocking decision. As we took our final shot on goal, the referee blew the final whistle. The shot was in mid flight and flew into the top corner, but the referee refused to count it, as the whistle had 'apparently' gone. Had this counted we would have won the game. We argued with the referee, but he stood by the final whistle and cost us 2 points.
Overall it was a good game and although its not 3 points, it was still a great match. |
