SS 4 - 5 RBS Utd  10th May 2005
This was a close match against a team we have played on numerous occasions.

The match started well with Andy scoring from a tight angle to take the lead, this was the only point in the match that we were in front. We then conceded a quick goal and they took the lead after a good strike from their keeper. With the ball coming through a crowd of players Dave had no chance. At half time we were only 2 – 1 down and on the first half’s performance should probably have edged it.

The 2nd half started well with Paul scoring a goal to level it at 2 -2. We then again conceded, but equalised again after the keeper tried one too many tricks and all I had to do was tap it in the net. This game was in the balance and again RBS took the lead with a decent strike, but we managed to equalise after a nice left footed strike from myself. At this point I thought we would hold out for a draw, but with 2 minutes to go, a clearance spun off someone’s shin and it landed at their strikers feet in front of goal, needless to say they scored.

Overall this was a good match that should have ended in a draw; although we lost we played well and deserved a point. We only had 5 players tonight as both Tom & James C were stuck at work. On a pondering note, if both Spantons shots that hit the post had gone in, we would have won the match.
SS 6 - RBS Utd 9    28th June 2005
This match was being played whilst 5 of us were away on holiday. From what Paul has said, although we lost 9 – 6 we were unlucky to lose as Paul played in goal in the 2nd half and conceded lots of sloppy goals.

SS 3 - RBS Utd 1   9th August 2005
Tonight’s match was a close affair against a team which we have played numerous times.

The match started well with SS having lots of the possession and making their keeper make lots of saves. Although we pressed forward, we couldn’t break the deadlock, with Andy, Paul, and I missing numerous chances.

The 2nd half started more brightly with me scoring 2 goals at the beginning of the 2nd half, one a nice foot strike and the other a miscued tap in. Both goals were assisted by Paul who nearly scored himself. We then conceded a sloppy goal to put a bit of pressure back on us, but Andy coolly slotted home his 1st goal of the season to give us a 2 goal cushion.

Overall a cracking team display which we deserved to win, possibly by more than 3 goals to 1. Anyway onto next week and promotion is still not out of our grasp, although very unlikely.
Season 17
SS 11 - RBS Utd 2  27th Sept 2005
This week we played the team directly below us in 3rd place and this would be a crucial match. Without both Tom & Spanton tonight, we brought in Graham C to bring our squad up to 6 players (which was lucky as James C was late).

The match started well with us taking a 1 – 0 lead after a left footed strike by me in the first couple of minutes, assisted by Andy. We were all over an RBS side and Andy quickly set up another one for Paul to increase our lead. After a 2nd by me, a goal from Graham and Andy scoring his well deserved goal, we had a 5 goal lead. We were all over RBS Utd and constantly on top, the only blip being a sloppy goal which we conceded. At half time it was 5 – 1 and we were in complete control.

The 2nd half started in the same way with Graham commanding the back line and setting up James C for his goal after a nice little flick. The rest of the goals were scored by Paul (2) and me (3), one a needless drag over which I’m surprised I didn’t fall over for. A lot of credit had to go to Andy & Paul as they set up a majority of the goals. We again had a defensive blip by conceding another goal, but after scoring 11 it was not that important.

Overall a solid performance, strong at the back and sharp at the front, it puts us in a strong position.
