VIKINGS! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Q: What is wrong with this helmet?
A: Vikings NEVER wore horns on their helmets! Vikings were warriors and they knew that anything as easy-to-grab as horns on a helmet was a dumb idea in battle. The early Greeks and Romans started the rumor. They said that the people from the North wore "all manner of outlandish things" upon their heads. It was actually Celts who wore headdresses with animal horns - for celebrations!* |

Vikings were great ship builders. The masthead was usually a scary mythical beast used to frighten enemies. Ships were very important to the Vikings because they were very big on raiding (traveling from place to place killing people and taking their money and belongings for themselves). Women were very important to Vikings, not only were they the best sailmakers (sails were made with sheep's wool), but they often went on raids with their husbands and sons.
