After almost 8 years of waiting, we found out one Saturday morning, that we are expecting a baby! It was an awesome time of thanking God and tears of happiness.
My first doctor's appointment was August 18. The doctor decided to do an ultrasound!
We had our big 20 week ultrasound on October 15th (Andrew's birthday) and found we are having a boy and he is healthy!
We gave birth at St. Vincent Hospital, with a nurse-midwife attending me. I was induced at 6 pm on Monday, February 28th and was in hard labor most of March 1st. At 11 pm I reached my limit for pain (I was only 5 cm dialated) and decided to get an epideral. I then went to sleep for the next few hours. After 30 minutes of pushing Elijah was born at 3:35 am on Wednesday, March 2, 2005.
It was the most awesome experience watching Elijah being born and hearing his first cries. After the silence of Andrew's birth, this was a sweet sound to our ears. Elijah cried when Brent helped to put him on my stomach, but as he heard our voices, he opened his eyes and looked at us. He was getting to know us already! We had precious time with him before the medical procedures of drops in his eyes and a bath took place. The experience of having a nurse-midwife overseeing our son being born was exactly what we had hoped it would be.
We will keep everyone up to date via e-mails and this website. Check it out in the next few months! |
