I spent a couple of months in Sierra Leone and the people stole my heart. As we sailed away, one of the fisherman boats sailed with us. They had named their boat after the Anastasis in thanks for the help that was brought to their community. |

While in Sierra Leone, I spent my Saturdays and a few other days at a malnutrition center full of moms and babies who needed extra nutrition to grow properly. The moms stay with the babies learning how to enrich their diet so that they can take care of their children. |

One child especially touched our hearts. He had been found abandoned in one of the communities where Mercy Ships was working. When found, he was only seven pounds and a year old. He was brought to the malnutrition center, but could not stay unless he had a mother who would take care of him. One of the ladies there, who was taking care of her grandson, decided to adopt him. She took him into her family and he was renamed Joshua David. A year later we received pictures of two-year-old Joshua David and he was now at normal weight and physical function. What a miracle! |

After meeting Joshua David, we often visited the malnutrition center to bring supplies and love to him, his new family and the others who worked to bring their children back to full health! |
