This page will remain as a symbol of our past and our history. We have to remember our past in order to succeed in our future.
In 1959, a group of sophmore girls living in Horton Hall decided to form a service club. Their objective was to serve their college.  In the begining they accomplished this by selling food in the courts of the dormitories. Originally the group was to be called Alpha Sigma Omega. Alpha signifying the begining and Omega the end. The Omega was dropped at the request of the administration. The group has grown considerably since its first meeting, not only in membership, but also in name. We have officially had our name changed to the Alpha Sigma service sorority, and in 1970 to the Alpha Sigma social sorority. The pledge class of fall 1986 was the last to formally wear the beanies, backsigns, and boobtags.
In Spring 2006 the sisters of Alpha Sigma decided to join a national sorority. On May 21, 2006 we became the Kappa Alpha Iota Colony of Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority. The transisition has allowed us to keep the same ideals and purposes the founding sisters of Alpha Sigma believed in.
