*27th December '06, Jug of Ale Moseley, supporting Sunset Cinema Club, w/H.L.I - It'd been nearly a year since our last full band show so we needed to bring out the new jams. Bryn was only around for two weeks, and got back from Norway only 5 days before the show so practice once again was limited. However we still managed to give 'Pasta Dude' and 'Wet Ender' their first airings, as well as 'Sturt and I Say Hi!' which while pretty old by that point had only been played once live. It was a little looser than we would have liked but yet again the crowd that turned out were great and stuck with us through the glitches which led to it being one of the most enjoyable shows yet. Bryn then got a second shot appearing to sing vocals on a few SCC songs (he added some nice vocals to 'Ready to Die' about Pogs) and H.L.I delievered to goods as usual. A good evening all round. pics
*19th Oct. '07, The Rainbow - SEF's first show in ten months was a low-key return rather than a triumphant one. Four bands played and SEF were on first. The sound was a bit shaky and guitars weren't always in tune but they played pretty well and a load of new stuff was in the set: some midnight-crying-time rock and roll, a reworked 'Pasta Dude', and souped up versions of 'Wet Ender' and 'Flybone'.  Bryn did a funny dance during 'Bloodass' and Lloyd added some primitive snare playing in a couple of songs. People's responses to the set were mixed but things should tighten up a little over the next couple of shows. The Family's efforts that night were rewarded with four free bottles of Grolsch and £32. The aftershow parties - a rave or a trip to the Thai karaoke bar - were both disappointing...     another review
*7th Dec '07, Island Bar, supporting Sunset Cinema Club w/Pictures of You - Another low key show. We suffered again from a schizophrenic sound system but played pretty well, Bryn in particular did a great job of keeping things going even when you couldn't really hear anything but his singing and drums. Anyway overall it turned out to be a pretty great night, but that might have been mostly down to a huge cooler of beer and Sunset Cinema Club playing note perfect Minutemen covers. -RALPH
*28th Dec '07, Bar Academy supporting Only the Good - Probably our best show since we got back into playing regularly. December had seen us working really hard on new songs but nothing was quite ready to play yet so we threw in a new cover - a quiet David/bass heavy version of 'the Boys are Back in Town'. The sound was good, there were no major mistakes playing wise and plenty of people turned out to see it, so pretty much a success. Also Caroline took some pictures.  - RALPH
*8th February '08. Jug of Ale, w/Sick City Club, Little Dipper - Our first show of the new year and our best in a good long time. We got a new song in there (still un-named, if you've been following the updates it's one of the songs we demo-ed in December) and we managed to do some justice to the other new songs. Which is good since we're meant to be recording them in the next month or so. Bryn showed off a snazzy new velour jumper and Greg (S.C.C) helped us out with vocals on 'Blood Ass' despite feeling ill. He showed impressive dedication by singing his heart out and then vomiting out front right after. Thanks to everyone who showed up, and to Lloyd and Ruth for taking pictures
(mostly written by Lloyd, otherwise Ralph)
*10th March '08. Hare and Hounds, w/Hero Machine - a strange show for a number of reasons. It was a Monday night, a rainy one in early March at that so understandably not many people felt like braving the cold to come see us. For the people who did show up the bouncers set up a weird strict one way system for getting in/out of the band room. A big thanks to Matt, Jan, Joe, Anna and Lloyd for coming along. Despite all this and our bass slowly dying as the set went on, the sound was good and we played pretty well. Andrew and Bryn in particular rose to the challenge of rocking just as hard to an empty room as to a full one. - RALPH
