Born to Polish immigrant parents, Jenny grew up in London, Ontario. She began entertaining as a teen, when she went touring with a rock band as a drummer.
Jenny was spotted by Wayne Newton, and gave her a job as a back-up singer. While Jenny worked with Newton, her confidence grew. She began the lead singer of her own band called "Jenny Jones nd Company" for 5 years. Bteween songs she'd entertain the crowd with her comedy, which she decided to persue as a full-time career. Being an office manager during the day.
Her big break came, in 1986, Jenny 40, when she was the fisrt woman to win the show "Star Search", coming away $100,00 better off.
Following a 1 year tour with Engelbert Humperdinck, Jenny created her own show, "Girls Night Out". She went on other shows, including "20/20" where Warner Bros. saw her, and took her up as a presnter.
They came up with the "Jenny Jones Show", which went on air for the first time on 16th September, 1991, making history as the #1-selling new first-run talk show.
In 1997, Jenny's autobiography, "My Story" was published with 100% of the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Awareness. She has been a chairperson for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's Chicago Race for the Cure, an annual event. Jenny even donated a mobile mammogram, which since the summer of 2000, has been 'hitting the streets'.
Jenny also funds her own scholarship program for disadvantaged students. Jenny dropped out of high school at 16, but encourages guests to stay on at school. In 1996, Jenny 50, she passed her GED exam with honors.
She continues to make donations to Chicago area schools, from providing books and computers, to well-earnt rest for teachers.
In 2000, Jenny donated $375,000 to Hales Franciscan High School, one of the country's top school for African American males, with 100% of student going to college. Jenny said her donation was to make an effort to motivate the people of Chicago, where her daily talk show originates, to support education and raise awareness for such causes across the country.
She's had 4 arrests:
1) 10 years old - shoplifting
2) 11 years old - running away from home
3) 13 - plotting to kill her parents (never proven)
4) 30 years ago - carrying a protection gun through an airport.
She was taken to court in 1996,over the murder of 1 of her guests by another guest in 1995.
However, with all the goodness she does today, most people agree that she has paid for what she's done, and made-up for all of it!
In 1991, she had her first set of implats, going from a AA to a CC, following her 3rd marriage break up.
By the end of 1992, after 5 implants, all of which went wrong, she decided enough was enough!
She had all the silicon removed, but still has silicon inside her, which is irremovable, and she will never be able to get it all out.
