- Girl Rider Clinics |
Natarsha Williams, Jamie Lilly , Kim
Hayashi and Carley Young have been working on a project that
will enable them to do female rider clinics Nationally for both
ABA and NBL riders. They hope to have it up and running for
2005. They will also be having other Pro girl riders as special
guest instructors.
The girls already have a name for
their group and are in the processes of obtaining their own line
of merchandise. Presently they are seeking sponsorship for
the program and obtaining goods for promotional bags to give
each rider attending the clinics.
The girls are also
considering donating 10% of the rider fees to breast and
ovarian cancer research.
What they would like now is
some response or feedback from riders, parents, track
committee's, or potential sponsors to the program. You can
obtain some more details on www.tarshasbmxworld.com.
While on the subject of Tarsha's
BMX world, Ryan Birk has a segment on the site called Birk
Uncut and he has added his 2nd Chapter being an interview with
the Warlock (Warwick Stevenson), it is definitely worth a read.

- Southern Challenge Results |
The
Happy Valley BMX Club held their 'Southern Challenge' race meeting
on Wednesday 14th April. The race meeting was to be part of
the BMXPress series. Melissa Mankowski and Emma Franklin had
two wins each from the first 4 motos, but it was Melissa who won
the final moto to take the win.

4 Angela Wooding
5 Mardi Katakasi

7 Laura Davies
Rochelle
Luke and Kerrie-Lee Lucas rode in the AA male class and finished 7th and
8th respectively. It was more beneficial to ride in the male
class than the female class as the male class didn't have a final
and they had approximately triple the prize money compared to the
female class.
In
other classes Dani Brown won the 9 girls from Jessica Wakelam and
Ashleigh Ascoli. In the 12 girls class Jacinta Rice finished
1st followed by Elsie Ascoli, Ellie Boyley and Jaclyn Oakes.
Whilst Petra Brown took out the 18 girls class from Jade Birch,
Jessica Wooding and Kendall Harvey. |

- National Title Elite Results |
The
2004 National Titles were held indoors over the Easter long
weekend in the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds. This venue and
track was much better than last years. We didn't quite catch
all the results, but here are just a few.
Senior
Elite
1 Malene Madsen
2 Natarsha Williams
3 Tanya Bailey
Other finalists were (not in order): Caroline Sabotka,
Kerrie-Lee Lucas, Rochelle Luke, Kylie Webb and Heidi
Rauchenberger.
Natarsha
Williams won the UCI points on day 1, with Malene Madsen winning
the UCI points on day 2 as well as the National Title final.
Natarsha had a crash on day 2 in the second straight. In the
National Title final it was Malene who got the best start, but she
was pressured by Natarsha the whole way around the track.
Junior
Elite
1 Chloe MacPherson
2 Renee Junga
3 Nikki Harper
Other finalists were (not in order): Krystal Cranfield, Emma
Franklin, Nicole Callisto, Shannon Jobson and Tanya Theile.
Krystal
Cranfield won the UCI points on day 1 and day 2. This final
was great as a number of the finalists could have taken out the
title. In the end it was Chloe who got the best start and
she held on to take the win from Renee Junga. There was a
mix up or crash somewhere in this final.
Other
national champions for 2004 were:
Kate
Elliot (19-24 challenge)
Cheryl Pointon (30-34 challenge)
Sherie Wood (18 girls challenge)
Melissa Mankowski (16 girls)
Ziggy Callan (15 girls)
Caroline Buchanan (14 girls)
Lauren Reynolds (13 girls)
Krystal Russon (12 girls)
Madison Janssen (10 girls)
We are missing a few classes along with the cruiser results, we
will obtain these as soon as possible and post them.
In
the meantime if anybody has any news, photos or results from the
nationals please contact us at sicchicsofbmx@yahoo.com.au. |
