We
want to thank everyone that came to our 40th reunion. All the positive replies and comments we
received after the reunion made all the hard work worth it. Your committee really enjoyed planning this
casual event and look forward to planning our 45th reunion. There were approximately 65 classmates and
40 spouses and or dates in attendance not counting those that dropped by and
all the reunion crashers that showed up.
We
raised enough money with the raffle that we will have a Class of ’66 marker
placed at the new Summerlin Park on Wilson behind the high school. They have turned the lake and pasture that
are behind the school into a really nice park.
There’s a 7/10’s mile long walking trail around the small lake with benches,
restrooms and yes even a basketball court.
When the marker is in place I’ll take a picture for one of the future
issues of our newsletter.
It
is with much sadness that I have to let you know we have lost another great
teacher and also a parent of one of our classmates. Mrs. Louise Jackson passed away on July 28, 2006. She will always be remembered and loved as
one of the best teachers at Bartow Junior High School, she was a real
lady. Please keep Adrian and his family
in your prayers and thoughts.
After
the reunion Janet Reckaweg visited her Dad in Bartow and some of the girls were
able to meet her for dinner at Ruby Tuesday’s along with Cheryl Anderson who
also missed the reunion. We laughed and
had a great time, just wish more of you could have joined us. If any of you are going to be in town just
let us know and we’ll get a group together to meet you for dinner. We are hoping to have Saturday lunch get
togethers at various places ever 3 months or so. I’ll let everyone know the date, time and place that I have email
addresses for.
Remember
if you have a classmates email address that does not appear on my list please
send it to me and I’ll add them to our newsletter mailing list. We are so hoping to keep the class in touch
and really excited about the next reunion.
Being
the first newsletter this is it, I don’t know any more news and am waiting on all of you to send me some, so get
busy! I do have a couple of regular
articles in the making, so look forward to the second edition in a couple of
months. Send all news, updates and
address changes to Dixie at dyost7656@aol.com.
If
you’ve looked at the Guest Book lately, the Autumn that is thanking us for the
gift certificates is the Autumn that designed and put our web page up on the
web for us. Afterwards she began
teaching me how to manage it, upload documents, do corrections and even put
pictures on the web. This has been lots
of fun and I want to thank her for her patience with me and especially for the
fantastic web page for the Class of ’66!
I
appreciate all of you that have updated your addresses with me for our
records. This will be a big help with
the next reunion. Hope each and
everyone of you had a wonderful summer
and wish you the best as we approach the fall.
Don’t know about all of you but I am ready for fall!
