NEWS FLASH: Thanksgiving weekend is when they will
knock down the Bartow High School Home section of the football stadium. According to plans it will be rebuilt and
completed the end of March, in plenty of time for graduation. I don’t know what is going through all of
your minds but, there goes a lot of memories and since I drive by it daily on
my way to work I’ll always notice the change.
I guess it was Walter that said I assume it will look like an erector
set when completed, we’ll see. I’ll put
pictures for the newsletter when it is completed.
Not much news from
Bartow, things have been quiet in the ole home town and so have our classmates,
even Clark! We did have a little
excitement in Polk County when a deputy and his dog were shot and killed, I
understand we made national news.
Denny and I are
working on getting a team to participate in the Relay For Life, April 13,
2007. Our team has been named SI Grads,
Summerlin Institute Graduates . I don’t
know about all of you but my kids love the idea that we, their parents,
graduated from an Institute. Any way
back to the team, we would love to have a bunch of classmates as teammates or just
show up to walk with us at the Relay!
Of course if you can’t walk you are welcome to send us a donation made
out to the American Cancer Society.
I want to
congratulate Donna Langford Wingard on her promotion with the Polk County
School Board after 35 years of employment.
She has been promoted to Director of Teacher Certification, Endorsement
and No Child Left Behind Compliance, congratulations Donna, we are proud of
you. If you have been recently promoted, retired or a new grandparent, I’d be
glad to share your good news with our classmates.
We have classmates
that need our prayers and thoughts while going through some tough times. Please take a moment each day to remember
the Class of ’66. We’ve all needed
prayers at some time or another during our life, it’s just hard to think of us,
the Class of ’66, as approaching the age where we can no longer conquer the
world without help!
Our condolences go
out to Denny Clements in the loss of his brother, Tom. Our love, prayers and thoughts are with
Denny and his family.
Last night at the
Tow-Jam they had a very good country band, the lead singer was J. C. Andersen,
from Bartow. He has one album/CD
published to date and was great. Just
in case you ever hear him on the radio or get a chance to go see him, you can
say, hey this guy is from my home town!
The home section
of our high school football stadium will soon be history. These pictures were taken when it was half
torn down, November 22, 2006. I don’t
know what all of you are thinking but there goes a lot of wonderful fun
memories.
I’m still waiting on ya’ll to send me some news for this
newsletter and email addresses of our classmates that I don’t have. Without your help this can’t be a very good
newsletter. Remember to keep looking for
missing classmates.
