Salah Al-Din's (Saladin's) Citadel was constructed by Salah Al-Din in 1183 A. D. to dominate Cairo from the Mokattam Hills. It comprises of a number of monuments among which are  the Mosque of Soleiman Pasha, the Alabaster Mosque and Joseph's Well.

This fortification remains a major Cairo landmark.

Cairo Museum
The museum was established in 1835 by the Egyptian government. The building on the right  was built in 1900 in the neo-classical style by the French Architect by Marcel Dourgnon.

The are over 1200 exhibits....... ranging from the pre-historic era to Greco-Roman period.
Tut-Ankh-Amun ruler  of the 18th dynasty. Relatively unknown pharaoh till his tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. It was untouched.

The gold mask of the pharaoh is made of solid gold.

Chairs found in the tomb.. completely gold plated......
Use of flash is prohibited in most of the rooms of the museum... not many pictures could be taken......
