To Report A Dead Link

Introduction

There are so many good resources that I hardly know where to begin. I am so thankful for the varied ministries God has put within the Body of Christ. There is never any reason we should lack for anything spiritually if we partake of what's "out there" as we are led by God's Spirit. Let me say at the outset that I don't believe everyone should partake of everything. I believe the Holy Spirit has a special plan for each of us, and that includes what He wants us to be informed about and involved with. We need to ask Him to show us our niche and to lead us to whatever we as individuals will need to be prepared Christians.

This page is being organized into categories. By their very nature, categories are arbitrary and often overlap. If you don't find something you're looking for in one section, try another. Also, if you find that any of these links don't work, please feel free to let me know. I have provided a Dead Links form you can easily get to from both the top and bottom of this page. (It has simple directions for those of you who are still new at computers.) I will try to check the links reasonably often, but it is hard to expand and keep tabs on everything. Anything you could do to help would be appreciated. Thanks!

*For the most part, these links would be safe for any age. Since different Christians have differing views on what is safe, however, the only way to be sure these links are right for your children is to check them out thoroughly yourself. The only ones I hesitate on are in the Help Pages section and are marked this way: "(I haven't explored the whole site - it might be a place to check out before you let your pre-teens go there.)" In addition, I have marked that whole helps section with an asterisk * to make your parental oversight easier.

I will continually be updating this list as I discover other "goodies."

Christian Apologetics

EveryStudent.com -

City/State Links

The Jesus Project - This is an exciting way to begin communicating in your city. It is a place to put up happenings, messages concerning God's work in your city, and all sorts of things. Come help determine its direction. Read the terms. Register. Get involved. Do you have any extra time? - They need skilled workers.

Encourage Others

Blue Mountain Greeting Cards - Express your creativity and encourage your on-line friend as well. It's fun to be surprised with an unexpected card! These are good ones, and they're free.

Hallmark Greeting Cards - Another place to be creative and an encouragement. Some of these cost, some are free. Enjoy exploring.

*Help Pages

Crisis Pregnancy Centers Online - A really good resource for really difficult situations. This is a non-condemning site from what I can tell, and they also offer links to help those who have had abortions and are needing healing and forgiveness. There is a section to find local help, as well as information on fetal development. (I haven't explored the whole site - it might be a place to check out before you let your pre-teens go there.)

Safehaven Post Abortion Ministry - This looks like an excellent site for hope and healing, and it has some excellent links. I am very impressed with their ministry statement and focus. (I haven't explored the whole site - it might be a place to check out before you let your pre-teens go there.)

Teen Challenge Home Page - A place for teens to repent and heal. You can easily find out what's located in your area from this page.

Leader (and Future Leader) Links

Midnight Herald, The - This is a site for those who want to consider the end-times. You probably won't agree with all the views presented here; however, if you pray (as opposed to just read and think) through these articles, you will be challenged in your walk with God. One of the things I appreciate about what I read here is that it exposes my attitudes as I let the Lord search my heart.

The Holy Spirit and You Index - If you have ever had questions about the role of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, and a host of other things, come here for a balanced treatment of the subject. (This is a five-star site, folks!) Do not follow the link, however, if you aren't going to spend some time. This man lays a very thorough foundation for the subject. He has studied church history as well as the Bible, and is not "flakey!" While you're at it, take a look at all the subjects below the first table. This brother in Christ has obviously spent much time studying to show himself approved unto God, and is one of God's gifts to His people.

The Magazine Rack For Youth Leaders and Workers - Reach Out Ministries is equipping for strategic youth ministry. Even if you have a good youth program going, you might find some helpful, encouraging articles here.

Link Pages

Christian links page (Rick Dennis) - Now this is a good page of links! Some I want to explore. Plan to spend awhile surfing if you go here.

Christian Links Page Resources - This is another very thorough group of links. Obviously this brother took quite some time gathering these. You should probably be able to find quite a bit of what you need here.

Christian Sites - As you scroll on down, you'll find that this links page has some unusual ones that could be fun to explore.

Cross Search - This is an excellent place to go looking for Christian web sites about all different topics. Happy hunting. Also, if you are looking for a way to bring your site to the attention of others, you might consider submitting it here.

News and Views

The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) - Do you want to get the news from a conservative Christian slant? Then come to this site. They do professional reporting and excellent thought-provoking commentaries. You can find news transcripts from the 700 Club news here, and fact sheets on all sorts of subjects. It is a treasure trove if you want your news minus the prevailing world view.

Summit Ministries - I don't think you can "top" this for information. Don't go here if you don't like to think. This ministry equips you and your teens. After some prayerful reading and thinking, you'll be ready to be salt and light in this world of strange ideas. HINT: It's also a great place to get information for school reports.

Parent Links

John B's Home Page of Cyberspace Advice - This is an excellent link if you want to know what rules will be helpful to protect your children online. He also has links to other good links on the subject. This is not something to take lightly. Yes, my family and I have found computers and the Internet helpful. At the same time, we know families for whom it has brought in horrible problems. The computer by its nature is something you have to monitor carefully. Trouble can literally be just a mouse-click away. With good relationships with your kids, an awareness of possible trouble and a few good rules that are enforced however, a whole new interesting and safe world can open up to you. Enjoy it with your family - but be careful!

Signs of Children Using Drugs - This is part of the Teen Challenge Website, a Christian organization that deals with addiction, so they should know. The Bible tells us to be sober and vigilant, for the enemy is seeking whom he may devour. I believe this warning certainly applies concerning our young people.

Personal Growth

Spiritual Gifts Inventory - You can take this test of 110 questions online or off. If you take it online, there will be a Spiritual Gifts Profile Sheet that you can print out for your use. I was amazed at how accurate mine was! There are no wrong answers, just honest, prayerful answers. The more honest you are, the more accurate your inventory will be. God wants us to learn what our gifts are, and to learn to use them to serve His people and His world. Also, by knowing your gifts, you will understand yourself a little better, and perhaps learn to work more in the area of your strengths. This is not the only approach to learning about your gifts, but it is one good avenue.

Practical Living

Christian Financial Concepts - This website is put out by Larry Burkett, who is an excellent Christian financial counselor. If you are having any troubles with budgeting, getting out of debt, etc. here's a good place to look for resources to help you. Also, there is free material on job hunting, writing resumes, heading towards college and a career... .

Resources: Bible Study & Small Group

Celebrate Recovery - Small Group Ministry from Saddleback Valley Community Church - Brothers and sisters, this section is a goldmine of help if you take the time to copy it all. It describes the different kinds of problems (the Bible calls them "sins") Christians fall into and much, much more. It is what I call a site with substance! It is an excellent help if you're considering starting small groups, and it is put out by the church of which Rick Warren who wrote The Purpose Driven Church is pastor.

Precept Ministries - Kay Arthur, Inductive Bible Study - Excellent Bible study materials. You not only learn Bible, but how to study it with her courses. Also, her aim is not just intellectual knowledge of God, but heart knowledge and personal application. Her courses will equip you for the days ahead if you will put your heart into the studies. If your computer has sound, you can hear her daily broadcast from this site. (She has a good youth section, too, since she got started by teaching teens.)

Resources: Specific Articles/Documents

These are articles or documents that I feel are noteworthy in some way or good to have at your fingertips. If you have any other favorites, please let me know (I have my email icon on the main page). Those specially marked for teens will have a T in front of the link. (If you know of any good articles by or for teens especially I would love to use them. I think teens enthused for God are wonderful, and they can certainly be used by God to convict us adults!! I also think teens can use all the encouragement and help in their walk that they can get. They are definitely swimming upstream in this day and age.)

America's Christians: Holding to a Form of Godliness, Although They have Denied Its Power - This article makes the case that America today is definitely not having problems only because of its leaders. What are our values, and how do we express them in our personal lives?

Liberal Christians and their Promotion of Sin - In this article you will find in one spot many of the stands of the liberal church. See also the links from this article to other articles regarding this subject if you want to stay informed.

Impart Ministries Article Index - Do you want to really grow in the Lord? I do, and all of these articles caused me to think. If you like my site, I highly encourage you to come here. These are things I would write if I could. --Isn't it great that we all have giftings that can harmonize? God is so good!!

T Luv is a Verb - This is written by Micah, my almost-17-year-old after he went on a retreat that had love as its theme.

Sharing our Faith

Salvation.com - This site is new, but has a very good explanation of salvation, plus many good links to Bibles and study resources. (It is the first place I've seen that has a link to the JFB commentary. - If you want to know which commentary that is, just hit the link.) It would be a good idea to keep watch as it grows, for it certainly has lots of potential.

Specially Teens

Christian Answers Network - This is a great site for finding out lots of things about lots of subjects like biblical archeology, theology, religions, and marriage and family. It appeals to teens and young people (I like it a lot!). There is much information about creationism here, along with Christian movie reviews you may or may not agree with (but it is a place to start).

Christian Youth Links Page - I'm listing this links page here because it is specifically for teens. Enjoy, and read with prayerful discernment.

More Youth Links - Who says there aren't good things being offered on the Internet? You just have to play detective and search them out.

Indy Youth - Here you can find out about some interesting Christian youth things in Indianapolis, IN.

Jeff Krieger's Home Page - This guy's story of how the Lord really "got him" is good. Look under "Who." Then see what he's involved in under "What." Maybe this is your kind of thing.

Jennifer's Page - This is a neat place with some good graphics, links, and original poems. She became the family webmaster, and helped others get their web pages up. She offers free help for web pages, too.

Micah's Home Page - This is my son's site, and it has all sorts of interesting nooks and crannies. You can find out about many things (and play with some internet "toys") you never thought you were interested in, as well as learn more about very important things (like salvation and "luv").

Teen Mania - This organization sends teens into many countries of the world for ministry trips. I know of a teen who went to India for a month. If your church doesn't do youth ministry trips out of country and you'd like to join one, here is a possible place to start. From what I hear they have fun, too! I'll know by mid-summer '99 because I have a son (Micah) going on a trip to Peru with them in June.

The Faith in Popular Music - This is a link to Jars of Clay, an interview with Charlie Peacock, along with some other neat stuff to enjoy.
