New Album

Since the announcement May 23rd of the band's diparture from the music scene, things have been dismal at best. There is little news coming out from Pumpkin land; but, I hear the "Try, Try, Try" single will be out September 9th.

The band has reportedly been working on the infamous MACHINA pt. 2 that's due out late this year/early next year. I've heard one demo, "Real Love," and it's excellent. I don't know why they are giving up on us...

- MACHINA/The Machines of God was released February 29, 2000
- the first single is "The Everlasting Gaze," and the video premiered on MTV's 120 Minutes on February 5, 2000
- Melissa Auf Der Maur *has* joined with the Smashing Pumpkins indefinitely
- the Pumpkins are currently on a mini in store promo tour. they will be hitting 31 areas. look out: they could be anywhere at any time.

magazine coverage:

Spin 3/00 - album review with recent picture of the new group. 7 out of 10
A.P. 3/00 - album review and nothing more. 3 out of 5.
Entertainment Weekly 3/3/00 - album review and small head shot of Billy from Adore era
Guitar World 4/00 - extensive interview with Billy about making of MACHINA and pictures of Billy and James
Rolling Stone 3/16/00- article/pictures of the "new" Pumpkins. album review 3 1/2 out of 5.
People 3/6/00 - brief, well written, album review with a small, nice, live shot of Billy.

Well, well... I'm very pleased to announce a rumor: Melissa Auf Der Maur (of Hole) might be filling in for D'Arcy as the bassist on the Pumpkins' WORLD TOUR early next year. That's good news, as she and Eric are my favorite members of Hole. Good choice, Billy, James, and Jimmy.

The NEW ALBUM: February 15, 2000. Mark your callendars.

It's official: D'Arcy has left the band. The reasons are not yet known, but what we do know is that she will be greatly missed... now, the big question is - who will play bass? Someone new? James? ? Who knows? I will update as soon as I know.

The official site has released that Jimmy Chamberlin has rejoined the band and that the last three months have been spent making new songs/demos for the album tenativly secheduled for release late September. Meanwhile, they are on a small (too small!) club tour, this spring, honoring Jimmy's return with the band. It's the first time they have played live together in three years.

New Single

There doesn't appear to be another single coming off of Adore, accept for promotional ones played on the radio ("Pug", "Crestfallen", & "Daphane Descends")... otherwise, we'll just have to wait for the new record to come out later this year/early next year

The next single is to be "Crestfallen" or "Daphane Descends"

The actual tracts for the "Perfect" single are:
1. "Perfect"
2. "Summer" (James Iha/vocals)
3. "Daphane Desends" remix

"Perfect" is the confirmed next single off of Adore. Also, "Let Me Give the World to You" & "Blised & Gone" (in the bootleg world, it is known as "Need") may be included as a B-sides on this single! No word yet on when it will be released... ****rumored, September 22****

Confirmed "Perfect" track listings...
1. Perfect
2. Need
3. Let Me Give The World To You *you are going to LOVE this one!!*
4. Crash Car Star
5. YardBirds

The video is directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Farris of "Tonight, Tonight" & "1979" video fame, and should be released in early August - August 11 on MuchMusic Canada and August 16th during 120 Minutes in the U.S.
