Software are the different programs you run in your computer, including the operating system. There are so many choices of software designed for stamp collectors. You can buy a commercial programs or you can write your own programs. Some variety like using word processing, spreadsheets and database management system. There are also so many companies that write a stamp-inventory programs specifically for stamp collectors. The following are some fo the few out there for you to check them out. Collect! from Alston labs - This allows you to set up a maximun of eight data fields. You define the the name of the field and specify how it is to be used, either as text or numbers. This can be for someone with a small topical collection. 'Windows" Collector's Assistant - This program runs in DOS and supports the use of a mouse, tab keys or Alt-plus-letter key navigation around the menus and entry screens. EZ Stamp - This combines a basic stamp-inventory system with color imagesfor all stamps in the database. The stamp images are stored in a CD-ROM. You can search through the database file either the year of issue or Minkus number and be able to enters information about each stamp. MyStamps - This is a straightforward text-based program that allows you to create a single list of the stamp you owned. This can track 10,000 entries and you can enter Scott number, year issued, category, title, description, face value and etc. Philatelic Assistant - This allows you set up an inventory listing of your stamps readily, search through it easily, and print detail or index reports. You can't change the fields and you only need the scott number of the stamp, and then browse screen. You can also add your own stamp images to stamp records in different graphics. Scott Stamp of the United States - The CD-Rom includes a listings and color images of all U.S. stamps in the following categories - postage,airpost, airpost special delivery, special delivery, registration, certified mail, postage due, revenue and hunting permit. And lots more......... SORTING WITH WORD: You can also use a word processor to track you stamp inventory. You can use the table feature with rows and column. Example Original Entry: CatalogNo Category Name Denom CatalogValue Year Issued Table sorted by category and then by name: Table sorted by descending catalog value, then by catalog number SORTING WITH EXCEL You can sort spreadsheet information the same as you sorted using Word processing. |
