WE ARE IN THE ZOO STAMPS
Always be kind to animals,
Morning, noon, and night;
For animals have feelings too,
And furthermore , they bite.

              The Alligator

When the Alligator open his jaws
It gives people pause,
And they all step out of line
To read the sign,
Which says,

  VEGETARIAN WILL NOT EAT MEN

The people all nod to each other and smile
And say, "It isn't a Crocodile,
So obviously there is nothing at all to fear."
But they don't go near.

               The Giraffe

The Giraffe precariously tilts
On short and long stilts
And his neck is long
And thoroughly wrong;
But does the Giraffe curl up in a corner
And curse his lot
And regret that he's not
Attractive?
And do people say, "Nothing could look forlorner?"
No sir, not at all!  He's active
He stretches his neck up and munches the sun,
And then, whenever he takes the notion,
He's off like a windmill in slow-motion;
And people throw their hands in the air
And cry, "I declare!
See him RUN!"

               The Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs lived millions and millions of years ago.  The world was warm and wet.  They came in all shapes and sizes. Some dinosaurs ate other dinosaurs.  They are called meat eaters.  Other dinosaurs ate only plants.  They are called plant eaters.  There were reptiles that could fly.  They looked partly like birds and partly like dinosaurs.  There were also many sea creatures.  Some looked like dinosaurs with flippers.  Dinosaurs hatched out of eggs.  The eggs were laid in nests.  No dinosaurs are alive today.  They died out long before people lived on the earth.
