I want to thank Matt Coleman for giving me this cover to add to my collection. He told me that he and his grandfather purchased this generically cacheted cover while he was still a youth. Together, they prepared the cover and sent it off for servicing. Their address, at the time, is still on the cover. I really like the idea of a small boy and his grandfather working together to create this first day cover. I think knowing the history behind the cover adds a bit of charm to an otherwise ordinary looking item. The generic cachet was created by Al Van Dahl, publisher of Western Stamp Collector magazine. It has been used on first day covers from many different countries since the early 1930s.
