Maryland Law: (According to HSLDA)

Compulory School Age-“5 yrs old or older and under 16” with one-year exemption available for 5 year-olds.

You don't need to have teacher qualifications.
There are two options that you have -

Option1:Establish and operate a qualified home school.
 

Attendance/Must be of “sufficient duration to implement the instructional program”. 

Subjects/Must provide “regular, thorough instruction” in the same subjects as the public schools including English, math, science, social studies, art, music, health, and physical education.

Notice Required/File a notice of intent with the state department of education within 15 days of start of home school.

Recordkeeping required/Maintain a portfolio of “relevant materials,” reviewable by the local superintendent up to 3 times per year.

Testing/None Required
 
 

Option2:Provide supervised home instruction through a church school or a state-approved correspondence course.
 
Attendance/As prescribed by the supervising program.

Subjects/As prescribed by the supervising program.

Notice Required/File a notice of intent with the state department of education within 15 days of start of home school.

Recordkeeping required/As prescribed by the supervising program. 

Testing/As prescribed by the supervising program.
