Where are you right now?
York, PA.
What is the last movie that you saw?
White Men Can't Jump, and I think I'm seeing Zoolander tonight :)
What CD do you recommend buying?
I know this isn't a new album, but I was just listening to The Black Crowes "Shake Your Money Maker" (In my opinion, their best album) and if you are a music lover, you have to own this album!
Cooky stories from the road: "Rock star behavior? Hardly."
Trashing dressing rooms. A long time ritual for rock bands everywhere. I have to admit, I had never done it before, but one night after a show, the deli tray had never looked so . . . well, throwable. The band and I got in a food fight. We were throwing celery, carrots, cheese and assorted cold cuts. (Whoa, random observation, they all start with the letter "C") Then one of the guys started squirting mustard all over the showers. We were laughing hysterically and throwing grapes at one another. We even broke out the silly string. So, it wasn't exactly the worst in rock history, and probably wouldn't even make Guns N Roses proud, but what happened next is the shocker.
As we sat their laughing a few of us took a look around. Then we all grabbed towels and cleaned the whole place up. Lemme ask you this? How many bands trash their dressing rooms then clean them up???
Fan Question: "Did you choose the guy in the 'Everywhere' video? What is his name?"
I did choose the guy in the "Everywhere" video. His name is Jake Muxworthy. He is a model in Los Angeles.
Random Thoughts:
What would you do for a klondike bar? No seriously.
Unsigned Band/Artist to check out:
JUSTINCASE! I get to see them on the 4th in Charlotte when I play there with Lifehouse and The Calling. www.justincasefans.com
Ask Jen (Q&A with Jen Hagio):
Hi Jen,
I just got the Japanese edition of "The Spirit Room" this week.
I am not sure if this sorta question is apropriate or not for the "Ask Jen!" corner, but I'd like to know the tracks that Vinnie Colaiuta actually played. I went through the credit list but couldn't find any description about that. I am a big fan of his work.
Thanks,
Makoto Noguchi
Makoto,
Thanks for the question! I hope to see you in Japan when I go there with Michelle this November!
Vinnie is an amazing drummer! So is Kenny Aronoff the drummer who played the other half of Michelle's album. I had a lot of fun being in the studio watching them both play.
Vinnie played on the following tracks:
Sweet Misery
All You Wanted
You Get Me
While Kenny played on:
Everywhere
Set Me Free
Something To Sleep To
Here With Me
I'd Rather Be in Love
Goodbye To You
and Drop in the Ocean
fun fact:
engineer Lars Fox actually played the drums on "If Only She Knew" without ever touching a drum set! He took Kenny's drums from "Everywhere" and broke them up in Pro Tools to create the drum track for the song!
Next e-mail:
hahahaha
why are you such a diva???

Where are you right now?
I'm in Columbus, OH getting ready for my show tomorrow night.
What is the last movie that you saw?
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - I'm still laughing!!
What CD do you recommend buying?
I've been trying to find this CD from David Mead - I forgot what his album is called, but he is an amazing songwriter and has beautiful melodies. If you get it before me tell me how it is!!
Cooky stories from the road: "Our Misfortune with Cabs"
Jen and I were at the mall in LA watching the movie "Musketeer," and we needed a ride from the theatre, so we called a cab. The cab driver came and we got in the cab. But then he started driving REALLY crazy! He was blaring rap music really super loud, started turning corners crazily, was stopping at green lights, and was trying to squeeze through two cars on La Cienega in LA! We got to the corner of La Cienega and Santa Monica and demanded to be let out of the cab, but he wouldn't let us! Finally we got out, threw our money at him, and ran away!
Then, in Columbia MO it took up almost hours for a cab to come every time we tried to call one! What did we do to upset the cab gods?
Fan Question: "What is 'Everywhere' about?"
"Everywhere" isn't about anything specific - I try to keep my songs open so there is room for interpretation. I think if I was to write about a personal experience and be specific about it, I would alienate some listeners who couldn't relate to what I was talking about.
It's a song about having faith in someone or something.
Random Thoughts:
I really really really like puma sneakers and I want like 500 pairs!!
Don't eat pizza that was left on the tour bus overnight because it WILL make you sick - believe me, Jen and I know from experience!!
Be Well!

Hey everyone!
News:
Attention all fans in London who plan on coming to my showcase:
The age restriction doesn't apply because it's a private show. Besides, I'm only 18, and I'm allowed in I'll be there earlier that day soundchecking, so if I see you waiting outside, I'll get your name to put on a list so you'll get a pass to come inside to see the show. If you can't make it to the show, just watch me on The Big Breakfast that morning at 6 a.m.
The gig at the Olympics has been cancelled. However, I will still be playing that day, only the show will be in Aspen and it's a private show. Sorry!
I know you are all anxious to hear who I will be bringing out on the road with me. I'm ready to announce one of the bands. So far, they will be on the west coast with me.
Meet Maroon:
http://www.maroonmusic.com/
rumour has it they are now called
The Maroon Five, but I don't know. I hung out with these guys one night at a party in L.A. They played me some of their new music and I was blown away. I'm really excited to have these guys on the road with me. This won't be the first time we'll be playing together either. About a year ago, we both took the stage opening for Evan and Jaron. It'll be fun. I hope I can aid in turning you all on to some music that you may have not heard before.
Be well.
Michelle
The Big Breakfast show

Wow! Finally I have computer access!!! I am in a business center at my hotel in Osaka, Japan. I woke up at 3 am and couldn`t sleep. I`ve been up ever since. I even read those little books in the drawers about Buddha. Kinda cool.
I can`t even begin to tell you how fun this tour was for me! It feels like the first time I can actually say I am proud of every show. In the past I had so much against me. Being a new artist I had to do so much promotion that by the time I played I was barely even into it and sick from lack of rest. This tour was fun for me every single night. Even when I was sick. This time I wasn`t sick of exhaustion, but merely by catching a cold my whole band had Thank you for coming out to the shows. For those of you who couldn`t make it, can`t wait to see you very soon. To those of you who complained about waiting by my bus and never seeing me, I apologize. Since I was sick, I wasn`t allowed outside to sign anything. Plus, it was cold...ya can`t blame me!! I can`t wait for the next tour!!
On a personal note: I am just so pleased with everything that is going on. I finally feel like I am in a place where I can relax and really start to explore my writing and playing. Plus, exciting news...I think I finally got the apartment I`ve been wanting for a year in L.A!!! Even more exciting, I booked studio time with John Shanks for the end of April.
Thanks so much for everything! I know a lot of you have mixed feelings on the whole TRL #1 thing, but I can tell you that I am so amazed and never in my wildest dreams thought that would happen. Thank you! I am the first chick from all of Warner, Electra and Atlantic (WEA)records to hold that position!
Well...Jon Button just came in to grab me. We`re gonna go explore Osaka. (He says "hi!")
Thanks again! Be well!
By the way...I`ll have more info on T.V. Nation for ya VERY soon!! Glad you like `em!!!
