Apparently it will take place over something akin to a 24 hour period ot time that will feature performers listed below, and other various artists from the other venues... broadcasted live.. such as Garbage and Rage Against the Machine. This is going to be GREAT! Don't miss it!
Tibetan Freedom Concert Update!
So, they're calling it Chicago, but the show's really in East Troy, Wisconsin. I believe that tix may be on sale by May 1 or May 10, 1999 so keep your ears peeled, as will I.

Beasties Coming to Penn State?
The Beastie Boys are candidates to perform after Penn State's relays in early April, one of my sources tells me. They're trying to book two rap group, and the Beastie Boys are one of the ones that they're most interested in.

The Beastie Boys are confirmed for the Tibetan Freedom Concert in Chicago... so now I'm going to really be depressed if I can't go.
Tibetan Freedom March
On March 10, 1999, there will be a protest march from the UN to the Chinese Consulate in New York City. This commemorates the 50th anniversay of the Tibetan uprising in 1949 against the Chinese, in which many Tibetans died, and also when the Dalai Lama was forced to leave Tibet for India, where he still resides. Cities such as San Francisco and Wsahington D.C. will be holding their own events... (see Milarepa for details) After the march, Tibetan activists will be speaking--Adam Yauch is expected to attend and probably talk about the cause... if you can make it, please try... we all need to help! Tibetan Freedom Concert Rumors
This is certainly a rumor, but perhaps something to think about... the Beastie Boys may not play the Chicago Tibetan Freedom concert in view of their cancellations in Australia. Will they play Sydney and scrap the US this year? Keep your ears tuned and check back here for the latest. The date of the concert is June 12th and 13th, btw.
Beastie Boys cancel upcoming concerts!
On 2/17/99, the Beastie Boys announced that they would be cancelling upcoming shows on the Australian part of their world tour due to a family emergency. They are now back in NYC dealing with whatsoever the problem... MCA is at home with his wife and daughter, and apparently Ad-rock is still in Australia with Mixmaster Mike. NO details have been given, but we wish the best for everyone involved.
