A coyote howls.......

A coyote’s howls cut through the night
Howling at the moon
As it falls out of the sky
With the sun to appear soon.

The night sky sparkles
With a million small stars
And a few you can name
Mercury, Venus, and Mars.

God gets out his pallet
And paints a new sky
All they colors you can imagine
Or be seen by human eye.

The Texas day begins anew
And on the flat open plains
The smoke rises thick
From the chuck fires flames.

The cowboys are stirring
Rolling out of their sacks
Saddling their horses
And setting the tack

A lone rider approaches
A smile on his rough face
In his eye is a gleam.

Last night he went visiting
The music he imagines
Out late with little miss magick
After taking her dancing.

A hard day he'll see
Roping and branding
And later that night
He'll barely be standing.

The two step, the waltz
A square dance or two
These are the thoughts
That will get Tex through

But he'll rest his weary head
His saddle for a pillow
But lil miss magick
His minds eye will follow.
