What are God's Requirements for Salvation?

1. God is righteous.  God's righteousness is perfect because He is perfect.  God demands that if we are going to have a relationship with Him, then we are to be perfect as He is.

Matthew 5:48  Therfore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect Romans 10:3  For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish thier own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

2. Man is not able to enjoy a relationship with God because man is fallen from his original state from where God originally created him.

Romans 3:23, 24  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Jesus Christ. Romans 5:12-14  Therefore, just as through one man sinned entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned, for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. Isaiah 64:6  For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;  and all of us wither like grass, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

3. Man cannot reconcile himself to God because he does not have the ability within himself to correct his position.

Romans 3:23, 24  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Jesus Christ. Galatians 2:16  Nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

4.  God in His grace and mercy reconciled us to Himself through the death of His Son Jesus.  God's righteous demands upon humanity have been satisfied because Jesus Christ died as a substitue for unjust and unrighteous humanity.

II Corinthians 5:19-21  Namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting thier trespasses against them and He has committed to us the Word of Reconcilliation.  Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  He made Him who knew nos sin to be sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

5.  God has made the gospel simple so that even a child can understand it.  The issue before you and every other human is faith in Jesus Christ.  God has made salvation as simple as "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).  The issue for you now is faith alone, in Christ alone.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE THAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU FOR SALVATION THAN TO BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST.

John 3:16- 18  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  He who believes in Him will not be judged;  he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:36  He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. John 20:31  But these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you will have life in His name. Acts 4:12  And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 16:31  They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." Ephesians 2:8-10  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

6.  After salvation in Christ, you should know that God has a plan for your life which covers everything you need to know about Him, His creation and His plan for the ages.  God has not left us without provision to live the Christian life to the fullest.  After salvation you will never find joy, honor, or any other good thing until you learn who God is and what He requires of you as His representative.

II Timothy 2:15  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed., accurately handling the Word of Truth. II Timothy 3:16, 17  All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. Romans 12:2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Colossians 2:8  See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and decptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and on the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
