The prevalence in Somaliland of the AIDS
virus, HIV, is still very low at just 1 per cent of the
population according to the most comprehensive survey of the
country to date...Gillian Duffy, who carried out the study,
said: ‘It’s difficult to explain why HIV is so low in
Somaliland at the moment. By comparison 25 per cent of those
tested in Zimbabwe are HIV-positive, while in Djibouti, which
shares a border with Somaliland, prevalence is about 10 per
cent. |
