I was astonished to read the response of Mohamud Tani to Rakiya Omaar. He stated that Rakiya accused Riyale after her relative(Muse Bixi) commented on him.His reaction is pure and simple tribal driven. It is a classical irony that after all Rakiya and other human rights activists done to take the case of likes of Tani when he was imprisoned illegally among the UFFO group, he is blindly defending the man who was head of NSS district office of Berbera. Rakiya is fighting for victims of injustice as Tani, and she is campaigning against those who committed or associated with those atrocities. She pays no attributes to colour, race, tribe, and regional differences. Tani throws salt into our eyes. That never works with people who survived after forty years of political deceit and scapegoats. You have no motive beyond to defend those who are your relatives ie. Riyaale and Tallan..Let history record that for you. You are comparing apples with oranges. You mentioned Silaanyo being a minister during Siyad's regime. You put on the same platform, the man that was leading SNM the liberators of your country and that who was on the otherside, for the only reason that he shares a distant name with you. How dare you equate the liberator with the oppressor. Equally you mentioned Hamza Gadweine and Abdirahman Baranbaro. How cheap it is. None of those officers where in a position directly associated with atrocities.Abdirahman Baranbaro was dead and Allah willing in heaven when these atrocities were committed he dead in 1981. Also Hamza was moved from Hargeysa in mid 1970th. Check your facts, Tani. I do hope that you follow Human rights court in Hague, did you ever saw a minister or an officer who is not directly linked with specific atrocity in front of this court.Riyaale is specificly mentioned in the same book that talks about injustice exercised upon yourself personally.I ask you a simple question. Was Riyaale in charge of NSS office in Berbera? Was he a member of Security committee including your other Uncle(Tallan) that took decision of political killing, imprisonments and lootings?at the time that 500 innocent civilians were slaughtered. What do you expect Tani, if we all react like you. Do you think that Riyaale has a chance to win? I hope no one will follow you for the survival of SomaIiland. I was discussing this issue with a number of Somalilanders in UK including some from Borame region. I regret that I included your name to a list which I presented to them after some of them raised the tribal card. I told them any one from this list is acceptable to me as head of state,to prove I am not anti-Borame or anti any other town or region. You asked why now?.The answer is clear ,simple and short:because the man you know as your uncle is running for the presidency of Somaliland Republic. That is why. Before now, he was appointed and not elected. In democracy electors have every right to dig deep the background of every candidate. Your response to Rakiya make me restless and pesimistic. I come to a point where I have to re-examine my belief in nationhood. It was a real surprise. It exposed your true colour and it will do no good but harm to Riyaale status. My apology to Rakiya,on behalf of those victims of injustice she is fighting for. Don't dispair with accusations of brain dead,Rakiya. Those who use tribale eyeglasses see only tribal colour. The day will come, when your efforts would be remembered, when justice will prevail. As to my ex-friend Tani, I wonder what happened to the Tani I knew, a man with shining bald, heavy beard, always smiling and laughing. A man with clean heart like babies. What turned his soul to that without spirit and energy. What make him to favour those who put him injustly into jail, against those who offered their life to save him. May Allah bring back the Tani I knew. Ahmed H Abdi harafjano@yahoo.com Ahmed Hassan-Arwo |
