AJ rapidally pulled into Amber's drive slamming on the brakes as they came to a stop.

    "AJ remind me never get into a car with you,"said Kevin leaning up from the backseat then his eyes went up to the house.

    "Oh fuck,"muttered Kevin. Amber quickly swung open her door and let Kevin out then slammed her door shut.

    "Shit is this all yours?"asked Kevin walking up to the house.

    "Yeah,"said Amber coming up behind him with AJ.

    "Adopt me,"said Kevin turning to her,"I'm only a few years younger than you, you could date me, screw AJ."

    "Number one, she does and number two if you can survive a beating from me then you can have her,"said AJ. Amber just laughed as she pulled the door open. Kevin walked in with Amber and AJ behind him. Alanha met them as they walked in. Kevin stood back against AJ as he looked over the house with a gaping mouth.

    "AJ so nice to see you again,"said Alanha. Amber pulled her shoes off and took off her jacket, AJ and Kevin slowly follow in pursuit.

    "Where's Martin?"asked Amber as they followed Alanha to the kitchen.

    "Around,"said Alanha,"I did your laundry it's all been put away and Alexa has been calling like crazy." Amber nodded as she walked out to the back patio with Kevin and AJ in quick tow.

    "Is she your maid?"asked Kevin.

    "She's my nanny slash cook,"said Amber lighting up a cigarette.

    "I can't believe you have all of this,"said Kevin,"So can you spare a poor child a smoke?" Amber looked over at AJ for his approval, he nodded and quickly swiped the one Amber hand in her hand.

    "You gotta stop doing that,"said Amber smiling as she pulled two more from her pack and handed one to Kevin. Amber lit her cigarette again and handed the lighter to Kevin. They sat there quietly until the door opened and Martin came strolling out with a cocky look on his face.

    "Haven't you left?"asked Amber.

    "Oh no I could never leave you my dear Amber,"said Martin,"I see you dragged home another charity case."

    "What?"asked Kevin like Martin was speaking another language. AJ quickly hoped off the table as Amber held Kevin's shoulder to keep him with her. Martin backed up as AJ stalked him down, the look in his eyes was stressed and unpredictable.

    "I've told you once, I fucking hope I don't have to tell you twice,"hissed AJ,"Fuck off and leave us alone." Martin stood silently and still, he quickly walked back in as AJ eased back.

    "You tell him,"said Kevin as AJ walked back to them. Amber just smiled as he sat next to her on the table.

    An hour later they were sitting in the rec room watching Ransom, Amber sat next to Kevin with AJ's head in her lap and Kevin's head on her shoulder. She looked over and seen Kevin softly snoring she shook AJ a bit and pointed to Kevin.

    "Damn I'll wake him up, we better be," Amber cut him off.

    "Stay, protect me from the evil Martin,"said Amber smiling. AJ smiled and kissed her.

    "Kay, well carry him up to the guestroom,"said Amber gentily lifting his head from her shoulder. Kevin slightly stirred as AJ picked him up.

    "Go back to sleep creep,"said AJ as he balanced himself. They both walked up to the guestroom next to Amber's, Amber opened the door and lead AJ over to the king size bed. She pulled down the covers enough for AJ to set him on the bed.

    "Shit, you even put your guests up like kings,"said AJ looking around the room as Amber tucked Kevin in. They slowly walked out of the room and shut the light off on their way out.

    "I'm so tired,"yawned Amber stretching as AJ shut the door.

    "Amber darling, your home," Amber and AJ turned to face Will and Robert.

    "Hi Daddy, Robert,"said Amber smiling.

    "Sweetheart, your not going to introduce us to your friend?"asked Will. Amber breathed deeply and took AJ's hand pulling him closer to her.

    "Daddy, this is AJ McLean, remember I told you about him? He's my boyfriend,"said Amber. Will smiled warmly and walked over to them.

    "Nice to meet you AJ,"said Will shaking AJ's hand. AJ sighed as he weakly shook Will's hand, he had never met anyone's parents, at least not their real ones.

    "Okay Daddy well we gotta go do stuff,"said Amber pulling AJ into her room. AJ pushed the door closed behind them.

    "Awkward?"asked Amber.

    "A little,"said AJ pulling Amber into a hug. Amber put her hands up and pushed AJ back a bit.

    "No offense babe, but you smell,"said Amber,"Badly."

    "Probably the holding cell,"said AJ smelling the sleeve of his shirt.

    "Wanna take a shower?"asked Amber,"I can get Alanha to throw your clothes into the washer and dryer for the night." AJ stood back for a moment then nodded.

    "Okay the bathroom is over there,"said Amber pointing over to the bathroom. AJ walked over with Amber following him, Amber took a seat on the toilet as AJ started undressing.

    "Yes?"asked AJ like Amber was waiting for something.

    "I need your clothes,"said Amber smiling,"So come on hurry up." AJ nodded then undid the belt on his jeans and let them drop to the floor then stepped out of them and pulled off his boxers as Amber collected up his clothes.

    "I still have some of my older brother's clothes I'll get them for you,"said Amber before she left the bathroom. She looked AJ's naked body over one more time before closing the door.  A half an hour later AJ walked out of the bathroom wearing a pair of light blue jeans with holes in both knees and under the back pockets. He seen Amber stir on the bed, she was wearing a pair of baby blue pyjamas and was cuddled under the blankets.

    "Your done,"said Amber softly as she opened her eyes.

    "Nice jeans,"said AJ smirking slightly.

    "My brother was a bit of a punker,"said Amber.

    "Shows,"said AJ sitting on the side of the bed.

    "It's nice to have you here,"said Amber as she pulled AJ down so she could rest her head on his chest.

    "I like it here,"said AJ wrapping his arms around Amber.

    "Don't they ever miss you at home?"asked Amber yawning.

    "They rarely notice,"said AJ kissing the top of her head.

    "Well I notice when your not here,"said Amber softly before drifting off to sleep. AJ looked down at her, he had never cared for anybody like this in his life or had anyone care for him. Sure he had Kevin the two of them were like brothers but Amber was more, she was someone who wanted to love him, she was nothing like he had expected that first day they'd met. He thought he was going to have some stuck up snobby bitch who would treat him like trash until she got out of the project with him but Amber held on.

    "I love you,"he whispered softly before closing his eyes and going to sleep.
Amber woke up around three am, she was still in AJ's arms and she could softly hear the pounding of his heart mixed with the soft patter of the rain against the window. She leaned up and softly kissed his cheek before pulling herself from the bed and walking from the room quietly. The halls were dark except for the light streaming in from the windows the silence was mixed with the rain as Amber looked over and noticed a thin line of light coming from the room Kevin was in. She tip toed over to the door and softly turned the knob inching the door open enough for her to look in. She seen Kevin sitting on the window seat in his boxers looking out the window at the early morning sky, the look on his face was pure sadness.

    "Kevin,"said Amber softly as she walked into the room. Kevin looked over at her as she shut the door quietly.

    "Hi,"said Kevin softly,"Did I make you wake up?" Amber shook her head as she walked over to him.

    "How come your up so late?"asked Amber.

    "My head hurts,"said Kevin pointing to the spot where Kelly hit him with the heel earlier. Amber nodded as she sat on the window seat next to him, she looked over him observing him she noticed various deep scars over his body.

    "Thanks for letting me stay I've never been in a place like this, AJ's lucky to have a girl as nice as you,"said Kevin.

    "Your welcome,"said Amber smiling. Kevin really touched her, he looked at everything around him like a small child she admired him for going through everything he had she never could imagine doing it.

    "Ya know what I wouldn't give to live in a place like this? Having a home to come to everynight where I'm safe and no one is trying to kick my ass,"said Kevin.

    "How long have you been in child care?"asked Amber.

    "Since I was two,"said Kevin,"My mom was a drunken addict."

    "I'm sorry,"said Amber.

    "Don't be I'm not,"said Kevin,"I suppose I'm better off there then with her."

    "I don't see my mom much,"said Amber,"She lives in Japan."

    "Do you visit her?"asked Kevin.

    "No she comes into town every Christmas on a job so I see her then,"said Amber,"Being a model she travels so she sees me when she can."

    "Tiny dent in life compared to me,"said Kevin,"Only family I got is AJ and between the both of us we're both a buncha fucks." Amber leaned against the cold window surprised at how much hope was lost from her voice, it was talking to Kevin she realized she was no where near these boys world.

    "AJ cares for you,"said Kevin,"He really does, he's had a lot of girls but like he loves you. Kelly she tried throwing herself at him one morning when he came home from here I guess and he just went crazy after she dissed you, never seen him do that over a girl."

    "Yeah he's not like the other guys I go out with, most of them are like me rich daddy's and pretty cars, but AJ makes me feel safe,"said Amber.

    "Even though Jesse wants to kick your ass?"asked Kevin rasing an eye brow.

    "Yes,"said Amber smiling. "Aren't you going to be tired for school tomorrow?"asked Amber looking over at the clock to get off the subject of Jesse.

    "I don't go,"said Kevin running his hand through his hair. He leaned back and looked out the window, Amber felt deep compassion for this kid she just wanted to hold him and tell him everything was going to be better but she knew better.

    "Well c'mon get into bed anyways,"said Amber standing up,"You need your rest." Kevin looked at her strangely for a moment then got up. She walked him over to the bed and watched as he crawled in. Amber pulled the covers over him and kissed his forehead.

    "If you get up after AJ and I leave tomorrow, Alanha will take care of you until I get home. She'll love you as long as you eat everything she gives you, she's Italian so she'll make you do it,"said Amber,"And don't leave until we get home."

    "Thanks,"said Kevin smiling.

    "Your welcome,"said Amber softly before she left the room
