Kevin was shocked
to say the least. He would never have thought that his cousin would ever
drop the group. It was his dream. This must really mean a lot to him. Wondering
why it meant so much he voiced his thoughts.
“Woah... That’s
serious shit you’re saying cuz. It must be important to you and if it is
that important I want you to know that I’ll be here to support you in whatever
decision you make. Although I can’t say I’ll like it. But I have to know.
Why do you care so much Bri?”
Brian was relieved
to hear that. He was unsure of his decision but with the support of his
cousin he knew everything would be ok. He hadn’t told Kevin why it was
so important to him to take her in. He just felt like he had to. Like it
was some twist of fate. He didn’t really know. Plus there was a fact that
Kevin had yet to discover. Guessing it would be better for Kevin to see
for himself he said
“Well, Kevin.
I wish I could tell you, but in all honesty I don’t know yet. She just
pulled a string at my heart and there’s no way I could let her go. There’s
another thing you don’t know. That’s why I didn’t want to take her to social
care. Go to the couch and take a look at her face.”
Kevin did as told
and let out a small gasp at the view of the face of the little girl. On
the left side there was a huge purple bruise clearly made by a strong fist.
Her little pale lip was cut and her forehead had a scar, probably from
some more hitting. Slowly recovering from the shock he lift his head so
to look at his cousin.
“Woah, Bri. Now
this is even more serious. We have to take her to the police. Her parents
or whoever did this to her have to pay. That’s so cruel. The poor thing.”
Brian nodded his head.
“Well, Bri. There
isn’t much I can say. Just think about it. I mean really think. It won’t
change only your life, it will change the whole tour if you decide to stay
with her. Have you talked to Leigh? She has the right to say something
about this since she’s gonna be living with you. You’ll become parents.
Are you sure you’re ready to be a good father, Bri? Think about the consequences.
A good night sleep should help. We’ll talk tomorrow, k cuz’?”
Brian nodded even
though he knew sleep wasn’t coming that night. Even if his mind did stop
working a mile per second Anna would be crying all night. Just as she was
a while ago. He was sure that those nightmares would hunt her for a good
amount of time. Sighing he made his way to the couch and gathered the little
girl in his arms taking her to his bedroom and placing her on his bed.
“Yeah, little
one. Now it’s just you and me.” She stirred a little. Placing a soft kiss
on her forehead Brian soothed “Don’t worry Anna. Everything will be alright.”
She seemed to calm down at that. Sighing again he went to bed for a night
of insomnia.
The hours passed and Brian’s thoughts
only became more complicated. He began thinking about consequences as his
cousin told him to. First of all there were his loved ones. Kevin had reacted...
pretty well, for what he had expected, though he didn’t know how the others
would take it. Then there was Leighanne, his fiancé. Was she ready
to take such a responsibility? Was he? It was, after all, a busy moment
in both their lives. And not to mention too early to have children. They
weren’t even married yet.
As if that wasn’t
enough he still had to think about how his decision would change the lives
of people he didn’t even know. First of all there were his fans. They had
taken the engagement pretty well, he wondered how they would take this
one. Then there were the people who worked on tour. The band, the dancers,
the workers. Sure it wouldn’t make such a big difference seeing as they
almost never saw the boys anyway, but if he took Anna with him the tour
would surely slow down. Speaking of the tour, there was, of course their
management. The Firm was a lot better than Lou and the Writts (sp?), but
there was a contract that he agreed to. But, damn! How was he supposed
to know he’d find a baby? Why was life so complicated? Why couldn’t someone
just tell him what to do? With those thoughts he fell into a restless
sleep.
