Guido & Sonja in Singapore
Dear friends, Interested in our new life? Checking out possibilities for a visit? Trying to get a glimpse of Singapore? Instead of filling up your mailbox with photos, we decided to put them on a webpage - so everybody can have a look... |

Singapore... Just to get a general impression: approximately 647 sqkm, highest point 165 metres (I never could image to live in a country which is even flatter than the Netherlands), less than 137 km north of the equator... Our temporary appartment waslocated at the Liang Court, right next to the famous Clarke Quay - night life entertainment area. |

Located on the 21st floor we had a nice view over Singapore - during day- and during nighttime
And then we both started to find our way around: Sonja's challenge was in the beginning more about the exotic food... Where can I find what, how does it taste and even more important, how do I cook it and eat it? Well, many little food courts all over the place make it really convenient to eat out: chicken rice 4 S$ (approx. 2 Euro), take away Sushi from the supermarket, restaurants for all tastes (Chinese, Indonesian, Malay, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Western and all kind of cross-overs - called fusion! One thing is sure: you don't have to starve! |

Guido's challenge was in the first place how to get to work, learning the names of Chinese colleagues without mixing up Han Beng with Han Meng and Tek Chin and Keng Woon... Try to remember around 30 names a day and this are just the first names... The refinery is located on an island in the south west of Singapore just a 10 minute ferry ride away. |
