Austin Powers in Goldmember takes place after the last chapter of the Austin Powers series Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. After being arrested, Dr. Evil and Mini-Me have escaped from a maximum-security prison and then team up with a new villain, the aptly named Dutch Goldmember. Together they formulate a plan for world domination, as usual. Then they kidnap Austin's father, Nigel Powers. So Austin chases Dr. Evil, Mini-Me and Goldmember through time, and stops in 1975 and meets up with one of his former girlfriends, Foxy Cleopatra, and asks her help to the fight the bad guys and save his father. Ok, Now that the plot is out of the way, on with the review.

I saw
Austin Powers in Goldmember at a drive-in movie theater while on vacation. I did enjoy it. It has some scenes that were flat out hilarious. And the opening sequence was one of the best I've seen in a while, with cameos from Tom Cruise, Kevin Spacey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Danny Devito, and more.

Austin’s Father, played by Michael Caine was a perfect choice in casting. He is a spitting image of Mike Myers “Austin Powers” Character. The movie also introduces Beyonce Knowles in her first acting role, as the new Austin Powers girl, Foxxy Cleopatria. She is an undercover cop that is trying to catch Goldmember because he killed her former partner. She does a really good job but I don’t see her winning any awards in this area. The down side to the movie was that some jokes tried too hard and sort of fell flat. Also I did not like that they didn’t even mention Heather Graham’s character from the last movie. Out of the 3 movies it is probably my least favorite. But that doesn't mean that it wasn't good because it was. Another thing is that the title character of Goldmember got very annoying after a couple of minutes on screen. If they make a forth Austin Powers movie, which undoubtedly they will, they should really consider not bringing back him back or maybe just giving him a smaller part. Also, Fred Savage delivers a funny performance as "The MOLE."
