| Dear Journal, Happy Saba Saba!!! (Tanzanian Independance Day) Well, we're in Zanzibar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Oh, what it took to get here though... lol So we get up early, grabbed our bags - Amy told Richard that he didn't need his passport, seeing as Zanzibar is part of TZ, Heath & I decided to be safe & grab ours anyway.... So we get situated & took off... walking.. to the bus station... in the dark early morning. That was fine actually. We get on a NICE big bus & soon we're off... I sat by the window, rested a bit... Good sized trip to Dar, 6 hrs or so... Finally we get there.... As anyone who knows me very well knows... at this point I was a tad bit motion sick... not bad mind you.. pero still... I'd make it though. Once we got to Dar we found (or Heath did) a taxi & we started towards the docks... We get there & a man asks for our passports to get the tickets.... & Richard gets a funny look on his face as he tells us that he left his... back in Moshi! As the rest of us groan... So the nice man ponders our problem & comes up with a solution.. "He is your husband!" he said to me.... Joy... Not exactly what I thought married life would be lol... They take Heath's & my passports... and all three of us' money... so we sit & wait.. & the jokes start in.... Then our tickets come.... Mine in my name... Heath's in his name... & Richards say.. "Mrs. Heath Ramsey"! Oh yeah..... we laughed. Poor poor Richard... The jokes got worse. So time comes for us to get on the Seabus... First off I have to say that I NEVER in my life have gotten seasick... carsick definately, bussick yeah, even airsick once or twice... pero never seasick!!! UNTIL TODAY It was miserable.... Then we get on the Island... & had to go get our passports stamped... some men took RIchard aside, I'm not sure what went on as Heath & I got our stuff... Pero it worked out ok!!! Heath obviously had a nice chat with a man on board the Seabus, becuase once we got a taxi to find someplace to stay I stayed back w/ our stuff while they took off & said man spoke to me about the discussion they had about Islam & wanted to know if I am interested in learning about it as well (or if it was just the guys). We had a nice talk, as I was starting to feel better. Well, the guys came back & we toted our stuff to our hotel. It's not the Jambo Inn, pero it's nice, & unexpensive - only prob is that there's only one room tonite, so for the day we all have to share a room.. luckily there's two beds in there, the guys in one & me in the other. The owner is moving us tomarrow lol... Well, that's our exciting adventure to Zanzibar.. I'll tell ya more later. |
