The Articles of the Code of Conduct
(Los Artículos del Código de Conducta)

ARTICLE I:

I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life.  I am
prepared to give my life in their defense.
Soy un americano, luchando en las fuerzas que defienden mi nación y mi forma de vida.
Estoy preparado para dar mi vida en su defensa.

ARTICLE II:
 

I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members
of my command while they still have the means to resist.
Nunca me rendiré voluntariamente.  Si estoy al mando, nunca rendiré a los miembros a mi
mando mientras ellos tendan las maneras para resistir.

ARTICLE III:
 

If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to
escape and to aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the
enemy.
Si soy capturado continuaré resistiendo por todas las maneras posibles.  Haré cualquier
esfuerzo para escapar y ayudar a otros a hacerlo.  Nunca aceptaré favores especiales ni
regalias de parte del enemigo.

ARTICLE IV:
 

If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no
information nor take part in any action which might be harmfull to my comrades. If I am
senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey lawful orders of those appointed over me
and will back them in every way.
Si me convierto en un prisionero de guerra, mantendré mi fe en mis compañeros
prisioneros.  No daré ninguna información ni tomaré parte en acción alguna que pueda ser
dañina a mis compañeros.  Si soy el de más alto rango, tomaré el mando.  Si no,
obedeceré órdenes de aquellos asignados sobre mi y los apoyaré en cada forma.

ARTICLE V:
 

When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank,
service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost
of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country or its allies
or harmful to their cause.
Cuando sea interrogado, siendo un prisionero de guerra, estoy requerido a dar mi nombre,
rango, seguro social y fecha de nacimiento.  Evadiré contestar cualquier pregunta adicional
con lo mejor de mi abilidad.  No haré ninguna declaración oral ó escrita que sea desleal a
mi país ó a sus aliados ó dañina a su causa.

ARTICLE VI:
 

I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions,
and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Nunca olvidaré que soy un americano, luchando por la libertad, responsable por mis acciones
y dedicado a los principios que hacen a mi nación libre.  Confiaré en Dios y en los ESTADOS
UNIDOS DE AMERICA.
