My friends never know what they're going to get for their birthdays. This was right after I saw a bead-art show that, clearly, scrambled my brain for a while. (BTW, those are blue-and-green flowers running down the sides.)
A woodland frame I made as a present out of stuff I picked up off the ground in Central Park.
(New Yorkers do not pick things in Central Park.)
Luckily, an astonishing number of things are just lying on the ground, waiting to be made use of, like three or maybe four different kinds of acorns, at least five kinds of pine cones, etc.
And bark! It just falls off of trees, something I had never really registered before. (See Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs, I guess.)
The frame I glued all this stuff to had a fairly bright red brick motif, which I darkened with shoe polish to carry on the theme of the Upper West Side.
If you look closely, you'll see a tiny bit of Manhattan bedrock granite nestled to the left of the leftmost pine cone in the frame's lower right corner.
