The Springfield College Paintball Sports Club
Preamble- On this the 17th of October in the year 2006, the Springfield College Paintball Sports Club recognizes the following articles to their explicit meanings. This constitution recognizes the sport of paintball and the want of students to have a formal club where they can share their enthusiasm with others.
Article 1- Purpose
As a program within the Springfield College community, the Springfield College Paintball Club aims to promote the sport of paintball by offering opportunities for college students to play structured competitive paintball. While in service, this club hopes to provide another opportunity for students to get involved and to meet people with similar passions.
Article 2- Membership
"In no aspect of its programs shall there be any difference in the treatment of persons because of race, national origin, color, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or associational preference, or any other classification which would deprive the person of consideration as an individual. The organization will guarantee that equal opportunity and equal access to membership, programming, facilities, and benefits shall be open to all persons."
It is the responsibility of the club's president to monitor all aspects of safety concerned with the club. If a member of this organization acts in an irresponsible manner with a paintball marker, he/she will forfeit club membership immediately and not be allowed to re-join the club at any time under any circumstances. Since there will be a strong element of sportsmanship, and fair-play; cheating, and other socially unacceptable actions like foul language will be frowned upon and dealt with accordingly. Members involved in un-sportsman like conduct will be asked to work with the president to see that this kind of activity does not continue. If it does, penalties in the form of suspension of access to club equipment and the club playing field will be invoked.
All paintball markers must be kept off campus or in campus police until the day of a competition. It will be the responsibility of the president or vice-president to inspect member equipment used on the playing field to ensure it conforms to all NCPA, and field safety rules.
Article 3- Officers and Duties
Officers include a President, and Vice President.
An officer of this club must have been a member of the club for at least one semester and in good academic standing at Springfield College. Additionally, nominees for officer positions will demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills. The duties of the elected officials are listed below:
President is to oversee all aspects of the club; he/she will be directly responsible for the overall running of the club. This includes forming an agenda for each meeting and maintaining a good standing with Springfield College and the surrounding community.
Vice President will help the president, being delegated to whatever job(s) the president requests. The vice-president will help to give counsel to the president and will also help supervise the organization.
Article 4- Meetings
The Springfield College Paintball Sports Club will meet at a minimum, once a month with a location to be determined.
Article 5- Elections
Elections will occur at the last meeting of the club each school year for the following school year. Nominations for new club officers will be made on the second to last meeting before the end of the academic school year.
Article 6- Finances
The president will oversee all financial transactions of money to be spent as well as a majority of the organization decides what money should be spent on. They will create a budget to the best of their knowledge and present it to the club within the first meeting of each semester. Not only as a way to keep track of account balances but also as a means of updating to more suit the clubs current financial situation.
Article 7- Winnings
All winnings incurred, acquired, or earned by an individual while in membership of this club will be his or her own winnings unless the winnings are part of an event the club participates in. In such a case, the winnings will be divided up as follows: each participant will receive their entrance fee back and the least amount of paint that a playing teammate has bought for that event. The remaining winnings will go into the club account. (PENDING WITH SCHOOL)
Article 8 - Fundraising
Members who wish to participate in fundraising events coordinated though the club will be entitled to discounts on tournament fees and paint purchases, but all of the money acquired will be kept within the club including the allocated budget.
Article 9- Amendments
Amendments can be proposed by any member at any time. Prospective amendments must be discussed in at least two club meetings before they can be brought to a vote. If a prospective amendment is deemed not to be negative to the interests of the college it will become a provisional amendment if accepted in a vote by two-thirds of the club membership. One year after an amendment achieves provisional status, its permanent status will be determined by consensus of the club’s president, vice-president and another two-thirds majority vote.
