History The Sporting Karaté Club de Kaédi, formally known as the Okinawate Karaté Club de Kaédi, celebrated its inauguration in 1990 under the supervision of Sensei Tandia Aliou Bacary. With the help of Moussa Keita and Ibrahima N'Diaye, the club registered its first group of students at the youth civic center in Kaédi. In 1993, the club moved to the local high school where it remained until 1995 when it opened its own studio under its current name. The club received official recognition from the Mauritanian Minister of the Interior and the Mauritanian Karate Federation in 2001. Under the guidance of current technical director, Tandia Mohamed Bakari, the club commenced with shotokan trainings 6 days a week for over 200 students ranging from 4 to 32 years of age. |
