SHAHRUKH'S SHAKTI..! |
After a slight tiff with producer Boney Kapoor, lissome lass Karisma Kapoor has consented to play the title role in his next production. The film, tentatively titled “Shakti”, will be a women-oriented flick with a story that explores the relationship between a mother (to be played by Lolo) and her daughter. There is strong grapevine that it is the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film “Not Without My Daughter”. Boney is believed to have signed Nana Patekar to play a character role in the film. Moreover dashing Shahrukh Khan too has been roped in to play a special cameo. South Indian director Vamsi will direct the film. |

THE SALMAN-SHAHRUKH WAR? |
With two Khans in a single project, it was bound to happen. No, we're not talking about Salman and Shah Rukh coming to blows on the sets. Rather we're referring to a little rumour doing the rounds. Apparently, with the Madhuri-Salman-SRK starrer 'Hum Tumhare Hain Saman' all set to release, the grapevine is abuzz that Salman has a better role that SRK, and that the latter isn't too excited about this aspect. What we couldn't believe was a little bird's insistence that SRK had refused to dub for the film because of this reason. Especially since the 'Emperor' is considered to be such a professional. Give the Shah a break guys. Who's got the time for all this? Didn't you know he's too involved in enacting 'Devdas' right now?! |
SHAHRUKH IN ADITYA'S NEXT? |
The director has talked to Shah Rukh about a new project! Rumours are out that director Aditya Chopra will soon be ready to start his follow-up to Mohabbatein and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenga. The talented youngster has been having a break after his blockbuster Mohabbatein released a couple of years ago, and he also got married shortly afterwards. He has apparently been thinking of a suitable subject for his next movie and has finally found it. It looks like Aditya has spoken to Shah Rukh Khan who is tipped to bag the lead role. Wonder when Aditya will offer his fans some more news on the movie - we are all waiting! |
BABY'S DAY OUT! |
SHAH RUKH KHAN sure takes his responsibilities as a dad seriously. Despite the many shoots to attend to, the Khan gets to spend a lot of time with kids Aryan and Suhana. Aryan especially, who follows his dad around like a shadow, was tossing and turning all night one night, after he developed viral fever. Yet the next afternoon, he was ready to tail his dad to Film City for a shoot of Devdas. On the sets, the Khan found himself responding spontaneously to his son’s whims after the last shot. “I want to climb that tree,” begged Aryan. Shah Rukh promptly climbed the tree, got unit hands to hand the kids over to him, and there they sat, oblivious of everyone else. |

SHAHRUKH PROUD OF LAGAAN |
The flamboyant Subbarami Reddy of Hyderabad was in Mumbai again to throw one of his annual bashes at the Taj. A perfect blend of a successful Politician, rich industrialist, socialite, philanthropist and religious persona, Reddy has carved a niche for himself as one of the high fliers of Mumbai’s jet set crowd. His parties have become an event to look forward to on Mumbai’s social calendar. And this year was no exception. Almost the entire A-list of the city’s who’s who turned up to wish Reddy and his wife Indira on their wedding anniversary. From politicians to film stars to media bigwigs, they all turned up in full force to witness this spectacle. Vijay Mallya, Adi Godrej, Vijaypat Singhania, Anil Ambani and brother Mukesh were all present. Mukesh came with his gorgeous wife Neeta, who dazzled in a black saree. Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh was accompanied by son Ritesh, who is all set to storm Bollywood. Former Cricket Captain Azzaruddin entered with wife Sangeeta Bijlani. Shobhaa De looked ravishing in a shocking pink Abu-Sandeep saree while hubby Dilip did his best to match her in a pink shirt. Filmmakers Yash Chopra, Shyam Benegal and Vijay Anand were seen chatting up friends in one corner. Shahrukh Khan walked in late with Gauri, Jai Mehta and some friends. Amisha Patel looked wow in a black outfit. Bollywood's talwarts including Dev Anand, singer Asha Bhosale, actress turned MP Vyjanthimala and Jeetendra were in high spirits. Other stars included a dapper Jackie Shroff, actress Poonam Dhillon (who is now campaigning for the Congress), Sridevi (dripping diamonds) with husband Boney Kapoor and brother-in-law Anil Kapoor, actor Nitish Bhardwaj, Nagma, singer Sunita Rao, Farida Jalal and Amrish Puri. CineBlitz Editor Rita Mehta, Ravina Raj Kohli, Rajiv Shukla, Times honcho Pradeep Guha, Shekhar Gupta and Sameer Jain represented the media. Reddy’s friends from Hyderabad too flew down for the bash- Pradesh Congress President Satya Narayan Rao, former Union Minister Venkat Swami, and Country Club’s Rajiv Reddy were present. The bash went on till the wee hours of the morning with the movers and shakers dancing away and generally letting their hair down, having a blast. SHAHRUKH & GAURI AT REDDY BASH |
Well, he's not quite into campaigning, like few of the other actors, but this one's associated with politics in a different way altogether. SRK, it is heard, will feature in Priyadarsan directed video, that will have Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's poem as it's subject matter. Shah Rukh has moved on since the 'Asoka' times. Currently busy dubbing for his next release in the form of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas,' which is scheduled to see light of day in the sixth month of the present year, the actor has also planned two more films that will be launched under his home production banner, 'Dreamz Unlimted' and 'Arclightz.' Hope these meet with the positive results at the box office. We're sure the Khan is look forward to a positive change in this case. |
SRK: IN POLITICS? |
Shah Rukh Khan may not have come out trumps with K3G, what with the Big B dominating most frames, he is reported to have surpassed all expectations in the upcoming Devdas. Recently, some distributors were invited to see the rushes of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's under-production film. Shah Rukh's performance is believed to have sent them into raptures. According to Bhansali, Shah Rukh has excelled himself in the role that Dilip Kumar made his own with the Bimal Roy version of the story. When he was asked who would look best as the hero of Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's classic, he had no hesitation in saying, "Shah Rukh of course!" There's another interesting observation from the distributors. With Kajol and Madhuri having almost quit films and Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh not being hot any more, the industry is desperately seeking a hit jodi. And while they all raved about Madhuri and Shah Rukh's great pairing, they couldn't help noticing special on-creen vibes between Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh in some of the scenes. Heroes anyway have a longer run in the industry, and Ash may turn out to be the next best thing for the 35-plus Khan, who can do with all the help he receives, given the stiff competition he's been facing of late from the younger lot. If Shah Rukh and Ash do make a hit pair, wonder how Salman Khan will take it! CHECK OUT OUR DEVDAS SITE |
SHAHRUKH: PERFECT DEVDAS |
Shah Rukh Khan's well-wishers are worried. The man doesn't seem to be shooting for films --- which is what an actor is supposed to do. Instead, the man is performing at far too many shows. For instance, during the Republic Day week, Shah Rukh went to the Sahara city, stayed put there for almost a week and did a couple of shows. If you put it all in perspective, you will know that all this is to repay the debts that have piled up with Khan's debut production, Asoka. Though partners Jai Mehta and Juhi Chawla have done their bit, Shah Rukh is extremely uncomfortable and spend sleepless nights over the debts. He would rather pay off all his debts. Honorable, that. |
SHAHRUKH'S WELL WISHERS WORRIED |
He may be the highest paid actor in the country with millions of fans swearing by him, but Shahrukh Khan is human after all. And this was most evident when he came for the Filmfare Awards this weekend with a cast around his neck. The actor who has always had a history of ailments has another new problem that is literally breaking his neck. Previously it was his knee that gave him a lot of pain, till he went abroad and had surgery done. Then, he broke his finger while shooting for Boney Kapoor a few months back and had to wear a cast. And now the Khan is said to be suffering from acute back pain. So bad is the pain that he has been asked by the doctors to take complete rest and wear a cast around his neck to keep his spinal cord straight. Shahrukh recently also had a severe stomach infection due to his irregular eating habits, but that has since improved. And now, he has to go in for a back surgery to improve his condition or else things will get aggravated only further. Waiting for a break from his hectic shooting schedules, the actor is getting ready to get hospitalized once again. Hope this the last one of the painful surgeries for the actor whose energy levels don’t make it seem like he’s been in such pain for a while now. |
SHAHRUKH IN PAIN.. |
AFTER a long time, SANGEETA BIJLANI and AZHARUDDIN returned to Mumbai’s party circuit, this time to lend glamour to T SUBBIRAMI’s gala do the other night. And SHAH RUKH KHAN, as usual, the man for all occasions, floored them and other guests with his earthy sense of humour and dimpled charm. Shah Rukh’s easy-going presence of mind was on view here again, as at Prime Minister Vajpayee’s book release function in Delhi recently — when SRK was summoned to the dais to take the bow, he said, “We make a lot of mistakes in this country. This man ought to have been in the film industry, but we’ve made him our prime minister.” There was a moment’s silence, and then, a roar of applause. <<Pic in Party Gallery>> |
EASY GOING CHARM |
Shah Rukh Khan has taken off his stubble and taken a long break from the studios. Devdas is wrapped up and SRK is home spending time with sonny Aryaan. He even surprised kiddo by driving to school and joining Aryaan's friends for an afternoon game. Dad ho toh aisa. Now you must know that daughter Suhana dances to all of papa's songs, her favourite being `Bole chudiyaan' from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. A talented tot this one. |
