SHAHRUKH AND KAJOL ARE 2001's JODI NO.1
A new category was included in this year's Screen Awards. That is the Best Romantic Couple of the Year which unanimously went to Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol for their wonderful chemistry in films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and the recently released K3G. What made the award even more special were the presenters - Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, a pair that was very popular in the seventies.

Shahrukh also performed at the award shows...

Shah Rukh: Kajol is very noisy and indisciplined on the sets. She can quite distracting, but she's the best around. It may not evident when we are working, but what appears on the screen is pure magic. She's the best I've worked with.

Kajol: I know that Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai have won the most awards. This award is for the entire K3G team.
I never dreamt of winning the award for the Most Romantic Couple with Shah Rukh. But I did. Shah Rukh and I have grown together in our career and over the years have developed a camaraderie and comfort zone. That comes across on screen. We have also fought a lot.

But he is the best costar I have worked with till date.
K3G BRINGS BACK KHUSHI TO BOLLYWOOD
K3G brings khushi back to Bollywood Cynics, take a walk. That seems to be Karan Johar's message to his critics nationwide.Johar's K3G is a huge hit at least in urban pockets: a fact endorsed by cinema halls in Mumbai where "House Full" boards greet everyone outside cinema halls, from reports received from many centres where the film is doing very well, and even the United Kingdom where the film's earnings will surpass those of Lagaan most easily.
Johar's film about loving one's parents has been loved by the masses, which is good news at a time when Bollywood needed a hit very badly after having delivered a string of commercial failures that followed the huge success of Gadar- Ek Prem Katha and Lagaan.

Why has K3G worked? The main reason most certainly is the presence of the biggest star cast possible. The film's success has meant a lot to the careers of all the stars, who despite their ratings on the popularity charts had not tasted success recently. That brings us to the critical question: where do the stars go from here?
First, Kajol. Her performance as a chirpy Punjaban eclipsed everyone in the film. But the sad news: Kajol's career seems to be heading nowhere. She has signed nothing new, and it is highly possible that her position will remain unchanged for a while.
Jaya Bachchan is the other lady who is doing nothing apart from acting in a Bangla movie. That is understandable, although the reasons are different. Jaya, unlike the much younger Kajol, has been acting very rarely for a long time, and her best in Hindi films that began with Guddi and continued with films like Abhimaan and even Sholay happened in the 1970s.
After that, Mrs B appeared in films only occasionally, surfacing once in the controversial Yash Chopra film Silsila that many rightly felt was based on her real life story

. Not long ago, Jaya came up with a fine performance in Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Ma, although in K3G, she has done nothing of consequence. But then, Jaya has done what she could have! Which is why she can sit from a distance and watch her husband who is sixty but still going strong.
Among the female stars, the person to have benefited the most is Kareena Kapoor who has the attitude but not the credentials of the number one actress. Kareena's only solo success has been Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai. But that apart, her films with the best of banners like Yaadein and Asoka did nothing to consolidate her position in the industry. In K3G, Kareena is probably the weakest link, but she has a huge success after which it is possible that her forthcoming films like Main Prem Deewani Hoon opposite Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan will be bigger draws at the box office.
Shah Rukh has been taking chances for a while, and for a while, these chances have led to nothing in commercial terms. If there was one actor who needed a hit most badly, it is Shah Rukh, who has Devdas among his forthcoming films. Devdas is not a typical masala film - it cannot be - and if the actor is actually signing up with Priyadarshan to work on his version of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, the guy is going back to his passion for taking risks once again. Hopefully, they will work this time around.

Hrithik Roshan has had several lukewarm films till Yaadein was released, and that film was a huge disaster! After K3G, Hrithik can breathe a little freely as he works on his forthcoming films, which include his father Rakesh Roshan's Koi Mil Gaya and Na Tum Jaano Na Hum.
Finally, Amitabh Bachchan. The Big B has made a big comeback after having been written off just a few years ago. But his recent films had not clicked: with Ek Rishtaa: A Bond of Love being an average performer at the box office while Aks was a huge flop. K3G means as much to Big B as it does to anybody else, since the actor with this huge hit can have greater expectations from his forthcoming films which include Kaante and Aankhen in which he returns to his image of the Angry Old Man. Also, a forthcoming film in the pipeline stars him and his son.
That means a lot to both, especially the latter. At a time when the industry was going through yet another low, the success of K3G has enabled all to be optimistic about their forthcoming ventures. This not only applies to the directors and producers but also the actors, many of whom have great track records but have not had any impact on the masses in recent times.

HUM TUMHARE HAIN SANAM AUDIO RELEASE
Producer K.C. Bokadia's association with T-Series began in the 1980s with PYAR JHUKTA NAHIN. The producer and the music company gave several hits thereafter, before they went separate ways. But they have joined hands once again for HUM TUMHARE HAIN SANAM, which stars three sought-after names of Bollywood in principal roles.

The three – Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit – made a point to attend the get-together, held on Monday, January 21 at Hotel Holiday Inn, despite their busy schedules. Also present on the occasion were the two financiers of the project – Rashesh Shah (son of Bharat Shah) and T.P. Aggarwal (producer of BHARAT BHAGYA VIDHATA).

In a concise speech, SRK said that he was glad that the film had shaped up well and that he was awaiting its release. Salman described his experience of working in the project as fruitful and added that he will always cherish the experience.

But it was simpleton Bokadia's straight-from-the-heart speech that echoed throughout the evening. “My company, B.M.B., is going through tough times and I shall eternally be grateful to Salman, Shah Rukh and Madhuri for standing by me in this hour of crisis. Had it not been for them, I would have collapsed completely,” he said.

This writer witnessed songs from the film and the impact was indeed mesmerising, with the title track, 'Gale Mein Lal Tie' and 'Taaron Ka Chamakta' being the pick of the lot.

HUM TUMHARE HAIN SANAM has music by Nadeem-Shravan, Nikhil-Vinay, Daboo Malik, Bappi Lahiri, Bali Brahmbhatt and Sajid-Wajid. The film is slated for release in March.
ANOTHER ACID TEST
Last year turned out to be a whole lot of 'gham' for the King Khan. His 'Asoka' didn't exactly ignite fire in the box-office, but Badshah Khan ended last year on a high note with 'Kabhi Khushi Khabie Gham'. No wonder the dimpled actor could afford to pack a few extra laughs. Now he has more reason to be happy. His next trump-card is ready. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's mega opus 'Devdas' is complete and has gone to the editing table. Besides Shah Rukh Khan, the film starts Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai and Jackie Shroff. Wouldn't it be ironic if the sad and romantic 'Devdas' would make Shah Rukh happier than he's been for a long time? Let's hope the film is a hit!

SHAH RUKH KHAN OUT OF FILMS!
What does the future hold for King Khan?

Shah Rukh Khan has tasted huge success once again with Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, but what does the future hold for the superstar?

Now that the shooting of Devdas is complete and Hum Tumare Hain Sanam is nearly ready for release, what movies are left?

Not much actually and it seems like Shah Rukh wants to take a little break and then chose his future films with some major thought.

But fans shouldn't worry, producers and directors are still lining up outside his house hoping that he will sign their films, so the demand is still very much there!
