Part 10 - Windsprite // Sunday, June 8, 2003 // 04:47 p.m.
"Be quiet!! As if we aren't in enough trouble already!!" Kenta said. "Of course he's a wizard!"
"Well, I - uh - oh, never mind"
Kenta gave him a strange look, curious as to the string that he had accidentally struck.
"Are you sure?" The king asked the wizard. "How can you tell?"
"No, not fully sure," the wizard answered. "But if he is who I think he is and has what I think he has, then I'll be sure."
"If you're right, this could be the solution to all our problems!" the King said excitedly, his voice rising. "This could stop the war!"
At these words, the attention of everyone in the room was then placed upon the group at the head of the table.
"I *cough* well," the King said awkwardly.
"Kenta," Terrin whispered. "What's going on here?"
"I have no idea..." he answered, fidgeting.
"Boy," the wizard said, addressing Terrin. "What is you name?"
"Terrin, sir."
"Well, Terrin. It seems that you are a long way from home. A very long way, one could say," the wizard continued mysteriously.
‘How the heck does *he* know?' Terrin thought staring at him.
"You have nothing to fear from me," the wizard said with a smile, as though he had read Terrin's mind. "Could I see your sword?"
"Y-Yes, of course," Terrin said, handing it to the wizard.
"No! Just place it on the table."
Terrin did as he was asked, though his confusion was rapidly growing and the wizard began to inspect the ancient weapon, but always carefully keeping from direct contact.
The noblemen seated around the table looked on with varying degrees of curiosity. Though most looked about as lost as Terrin, himself, was.
After a long while of study, during which Kenta could not keep still, his eyes roaming around the room instinctively looking for some way to escape, and Terrin staring at the sword in a dazed confusion, the wizard sighed and nodded.
He turned to the king, but his voice rose so that it could be heard by all those present in the room. "This, milord, it the Lost Sword. This," he continued, "is Atlaris!" |
