Part 15 - Windsprite // Monday, July 7, 2003 // 02:47 p.m.
After the council, Terrin and Kenta were invited to the grand hall, where they were to be guests of honour at a great feast. After cleaning up from their journey, dressing in some clothes borrowed for the occasion and feeling quite strange in the fancy garb as a result (Kenta made a snide yet quiet remark about the leggings and puffy pants..), they were seated next to the King. There they were treated to the most delicious supper either of them had ever eaten (which included some things that Terrin had never seen before). They both thouroughly enjoyed themsleves. Between bites, Kenta was continuously striking up conversations with his neighbours... and those at the completely other side of the hall. Terrin, though, felt a little out of place in amongst the nobility of this strange world, and thought that his family would be having supper right about now and wondered if they were worried for him
Later, they were escorted to the castle's finest guest rooms, where they slept in soft beds and were served hot drinks, before settling in for a good night's sleep. They spent the next days preparing for their journey, and Terrin spent most of that trying to keep Kenta away from mischief... to minimal success.
On the morning of their third day in the castle, 'If it can be called morning this early,' Terrin thought sleepily, the boys got dressed in their own clothes (both had politely refused new ones), and were escorted to the front gates of the castle by the very guard that Kenta had dealt with the other day.
"Why, hello milord!" he said as he greeted them.
Terrin cast a annoyed glance Kenta's way, noticing how his friend was trying so hard to stop from laughing. 'I'm not even gonna ask....'
They then awaited their guide with... patience. Kenta chatting amiably away with the guard, who continued to call him "milord" and the like.
"I hope he's huge!" Kenta was saying. "With all kinds of muscles so that he can *bam!* smash everyone who tries to stop us! And a big sword to *swoosh!* slice them to bits! And..."
‘I don't understand how he can be this excited this early...' Terrin thought, while a huge yawn split his face.
"What're you trying to do, Terrin?" Kenta asked, finally stopping his excited babbling. "Are you turning into a frog, or something?" he added with a grin, poking Terrin to be sure he wasn't growing warts or some such thing.
Before Terrin could come up with an indignant answer, he was interrupted by the woman he had seen heading for the gates earlier, who had just arrived:
"Now don't ye be tellin' me that *these* be the boys that I be escortin!" she said to the guard with a sigh.
"They are, ma'am," the guard stated, inclining his head in greeting.
