Part 16 - Trinity // Saturday, October 4, 2003 // 10:39 p.m.
After traveling for almost a week, through forest and field, have to scare away wolves at night, and nights of little sleep, the group was tremendously exhausted. Terrin could barely keep his eyes open.
He yawned loudly, “Sola, do you think we could stop and rest a while?”
“Yeah, I’m with him. I’m so tired!” Kenta agreed.
“No,” was her answer. “We must be moving if we do no' wish to be found by Talan. The dark lord be having many spies. We'll be resting tonight.”
“But-” Kenta insisted.
“No!” Sola glared at him through the corner of her eye. The dark haired boy grunted but did not say anything more. They wandered off toward the Mushen River, waded across, and hurried over a wide open space, rush-grown and treeless, on the further side. Beyond that they came to another belt of trees: tall oaks for the most part, with here and there an elm or an ash. They traveled in this small forest for many farthings until the sun was almost gone. After they had come out of the woods, Sola lead them to a small mountain, on the top of which were ruins. She turned to the two. “We shall be resting here tonight.”

It was late into the night and Sola was nodding off when she was woken be a pygmy light. She opened her eyes and sat up to see Terrin sitting over a small fire. “WHAT ARE YE DOING?!” She screamed.
Terrin looked up. “Um...I was cold and-”
“Ah, ye be a great idiot!” she yelled throwing sand on the fire and stomping on it. Suddenly there was a paralyzing howl. Sola knelt down and looked over the edge of the small cliff, followed by Terrin. Below, they saw three flames coming toward the mini-mountain at a great speed.
“W-wh...what is that?” Terrin stuttered in fear.
“Werewolves...” She gave a curse under her breath and stood up quickly. Running over to her pack she pulled out two daggers and picked up her staff. Handing Terrin one of the small knives she said, “Here. Ye shall be using this for now. Ye mustn’t take out Atlaris, not yet.”
Terrin stared at his sword, flustered. Everything was happening so fast. ‘Oh, why did I have to be cold?’ While Terrin was deep in thoughts of fear, Sola was busy trying to wake up Kenta.
“Get up! We be under attack!” Though she shook him fiercely, he didn’t awaken. “BOY!” Nothing...after a few more failing attempts Sola began to lose her patience. “HELLLLLLOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAKKKKEEEE YEEEEEE UPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!” She screamed at the top of her lungs into his ear.
“Ah!” Kenta yelled and shot straight up. He looked around with half lidded eyes.
“Finally! We be under attack, ye darn lup o' logs! Come! We must fly!” Sola said crossly.
“Fly...?” Kenta said sleepily. “I...I can fly....” And he collapsed back into deep sleep.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Sola roared and kicked Kenta in the head, which, of course, didn’t wake him. She huffed furiously. “Stupid, boy!” |
