Part 9 - Windsprite // Saturday, June 7, 2003 // 08:06 p.m.
"What do you kids think you're doing in here? How dare you interrupt such an important meeting!" said one of the noblemen who were gathered around a long table in the center of the room.
"About that," said Kenta, giving a sideways glance at the door. "We were just about to leave so..."
"Silence!" another noble ordered. "Guards, send them to the dungeons!"
"It was just an innocent mistake. You don't have to be so rough about it..." Kenta muttered as the guards proceeded to prod them along. "Is this the way you treat your good citizens?!" He demanded.
"Not again..." thought Terrin.
So, as Kenta was attempting to talk their way out of yet another mess, Terrin started looking for another source of escape in case Kenta's glib tongue failed. And while his eyes were searching the room, they searched out an sneaky sort of scene - a tall man looking rather familiar, leaning over to whisper in the ear of the man in the center of the room. This particular man had a crown on his head and so, using his brilliant deductive reasoning, Terrin realized this was a man of some importance - and if this strange world had nobles and castles, then he was most likely royalty.
"The King!!" He blurted out and immediately had a hand clapped over his mouth.
"Shut up, you!! I'm trying to get us out of here and you go doing something like that!!" Kenta hissed.
"You, boy," The king interrupted, pointing a Terrin. "Come over here so I can get a good look at you."
"M-Me? Yessir.." he stuttered.
So Terrin, with Kenta tagging along, walked over to the King, past all the noblemen who were wearing varying expressions. Some seemed to be surprised, others angry, and the the rest looked plain confused. It seemed to take an eternity walking to the table under all those stares and when they got there, Terrin realized why the man beside the king looked so familiar - an awful lot like one of the characters in a book he had read recently.
"A wizard!" he exclaimed. |
